Why are slaves a rare resource when you can capture them in battle? Seems you can have thousands of slaves, but still not have the slave resource. Bit weird IMO.
And?
I just think it was an interesting design choice to make slaves a rare resource when the Roman Empire was 30%+ slaves. Not to mention you can actually acquire slaves in battle, so again slightly unsure about the logic of having them as a rare strategic resource.
Still, I do love the new resource system and I'm yet to try the seasonal effects but it looks great.
The slave mechanic in the game is pretty set in terms of what it does and how you can interact with it. We wanted the Slaves resource to be something else, think of them as high value slaves or slave market centers that specialize in large quantities.
can you add one resource extra in the game? honey, they used honey instead of Sugar, because that was not invented back then.thanks

I think this is what made the inclusion of slaves as specialist resource quite odd. The slave mechanic (though less than perfect in many ways) is actually one of the more engaging in the game because its pretty new as far as Total War goes. Just seems a little weird that I can have thousands of slaves with gladiator arenas all around yet I can't build a slave trader. With that in mind, and whilst I'm not against slaves being a resource, I personally feel that you should be able to acquire them through buildings (as you can with wine, wood, iron and so on). This is simply because in my opinion the length of time it takes to acquire them (depending on your starting faction of course) is proportionally much larger than it should be by comparison to the speed with which you can acquire most of the other resources. The reason I say this is because slaves were readily available to many ancient cultures (the romans particularly) and I would love to be able to use the new slave resource to construct a slave Empire from the start.
As I already said however, the fact that Xilo came up with the meaningful resources mod is great. I can't imagine not playing with it now, it's fantastic. I also love the new green building group which also adds some of the desperately needed variety to the game.
Thanks as always,
Lev.
Thanks for the information Dresden. Appreciate it.
Where can I find salt and slaves? They seems to be missing from the map in first post.
salt shoud be in roma itself,it was build their because it lay close to salt mines, and rome got strong in early era because of that resource.

Dresden, What happened to the buildings that produce the resources? I had a version with it in, and now they are gone...

Cant agree more on your last part... I am a history noob so maybe salt was indeed very largely present in and around Roma, maybe it could be swapped with another salt-producing province. But I really like the state of DeI atm, so I dont event want to complain about small issues like that, thats the power of a great modding community![]()
Currently, minor regions are the resource types. Main cities are their own chain. It might be possible to change that, but as it is we have resources in the minor regions only.
Also, resource locations are chosen for gameplay reasons along with historical consideration.
I appreciate any and all feedback, but this thread is mainly here as a guide for people to reference.
its just a thought not a complaint,im verry happy with the state of DeI
