I want to be the USA and expand out west.
I want to be the USA and expand out west.
It would not sell well and I would not buy it I want medieval 3 or a new empire
It would be awesome, FOTS was the best Total War game ever.
Those mechanics on a grand scale would be glorious.
And Britain would be supreme.
Not about Rome II. We have a in general total war sub-forum which this subject would be more appropriate.
Moved.

Rather a Renaissance total war than a empire 2 or Victoria... I mean if they decide not to go with the warhammer theme. Medieval 3 Total war would be nice too, but that leads to remaking all the games with a big 3 in the end of the title.
"They took my fries. I took their lives."
And what are you basing this on? Considering that you immediately said straight afterwards that you wouldn't buy it, it's pretty safe to say your opinion is nonsenseIt would not sell well

My personal view: Victorian warfare is interesting strategically, but not very interesting tactically. Thus, a Civilization/Europa Universalis/whatever type grand strategy game is good for that period, but, while a TW game wouldn't necessarily be bad, its attention to modelling battles at the tactical level would be, to some extent, a waste.
(Tactics got more interesting from around WW1 on, with the advent of air power, armored tracked vehicles, etc)
No. Next game after all Rome 2 is done will be base on China Warring States.

1789 - 1918. Hobsbawm's long nineteenth century. From muskets to land ironclads.
... I want M3 and I am very sure that Victorian Era won't suit TW very well.
What will CA do after Rome 2 will be... I don't know but I think Medieval is the most suitable one. I mean it's the only era that didn't touch Warscape yet. But they should expand the timeline from Dark Ages (after the split of Charlemagne's Empire) to the Renaissance (including it).
How can you say that ???? They already succeed with this timeframe with Shogun 2 . It works perfectly. So instead of getting your dislike opinion you should be more constructive."I am very sure that Victorian Era won't suit TW very well"

I think they will do some more classical era or medieval themed games then return to that time period.
Give us something NEW, give us Victorian Age TW.
Antiquity Total War (Sumer, Assyria, Babylon, Hittites, Persia and all that) or Warring States total war would be better than Victoria
But with a new engine!Antiquity Total War (Sumer, Assyria, Babylon, Hittites, Persia and all that) or Warring States total war would be better than Victoria
Half mythological, and hugely unrelatable to the vast majority of the player base? Both those time periods are better served by expansions, or mods. There simply isn't enough meat to create an interesting bronze age game on the scale of Rome 2 without large gaps, multi-year turns, and too many abstractions, in addition to it not selling. Chinese warring states suffers from many of these same problems, in addition to being a much more monocultural gameplay experience, and unlike feudal Japan the period warrants far too little interest from the vast majority of players. I'd like to see China in a total war game too, I would not appreciate a rather wasted and weak game that focused on China's internal experiences. Far better would be for China to be integrated into larger, fuller games and be able to interact with its neighbours. In a Medieval 3 (which shouldn't be made next, as 3 sequels in a row would be a damn poor show), if properly isolated from Europe with in-game mechanics (don't want any Chinese invasions of Britain, of course) the Song's wars with the Mongols and the Chinese subjugation of southeast asia would make for a much more interesting scenario than playing some Chinese-only game of Age of Mythology without myth units. The Victorian Era also happened to be one of China's most fascinating periods of its history; the Taiping rebellion claimed some 20 million lives, China ended its isolation, became an Arena for the games of the great Empires, and the Boxer rebellion; if you want China in a total war game, the Victorian period would be one of the best times to represent it.
No, never.
Simple as that really.
Man, I just don't want another Asian game. I can't play shogun because it's japan and the factions are too similar. I want to play as the qing dynasty in a victorian game though.
THISSSSSSSS, the qing dynasty is so interesting. I would love to control them and try to thwart away the imperialistic european powers.
