Thread: The Big Rome 2 Survey! Survey closing soon!

Default The Big Rome 2 Survey! Survey closing soon!

    Total Warriors, assemble

It's here: a rare opportunity to have your say and be heard on the issues that matter to you the most. A survey to gather our collective wrath, adulation and all that falls between under one roof. A chance to communicate to CA en masse how we truly feel about the game they have delivered.

Whether staunch critic or die-hard fan, I entreat you to drop all former prejudices, examine your feelings and enter into the spirit of participation for...

    The Big Rome 2 Survey

Over the last few days, hundreds of forumites have submitted their responses about what form they would like this survey to take and which questions covered (big thanks to those that did!). With a dizzying variety of viewpoints to consider, it is impossible to make everyone happy, but this is my best effort at producing a survey which is impartial and asks the questions we most want to be answered.

The main aim of this exercise is to deliver easily digestible data into the hands of CA/SEGA staff at all levels. In turn, they can, if they choose, prioritize those projects which are most in demand. After all, a happy player will feel more incentivized to buy additional content, so everyone stands to benefit!

    Edit - 17th December - 3,000 responses in!!!

Roughly 6 days have elapsed since the survey went live and the response has been overwhelming. The people have spoken with a deafening roar and, from within that cacophonous outpouring of opinion, some voices can be heard louder than others. In some cases, much louder.

    NEW RESULTS - 3,000 on December 16th

For those of you who have not yet participated KEEP THE RESULTS COMING. The bigger the sample, the more reliable the data.

Thank you to everybody who has taken part and helped spread this around. CA will hear us and they have not already!

Filled it in. Very good form, liked the questions and format very much. Once I submitted it, though, the screen went to a "create free online survery!" advert, and I don't see a way to skip this ad - have my answers been submitted to the computer whiz database, or is this advert a part of the procedure?

Have to admit that filling out that questionnaire did me make me feel a little glum - I expected Rome 2 not to live up to godly hype, but that I had to fill out a questionnaire about how I'd like to see stuff added in for extra immersion, and what it would take to get me to play the game, really drives home just how much of a disappointment this was.

Here's hoping that the game is fixed through CA's patches to the 8 or 9/10 standard it should have been, and that mods can expand on it even more, though!

Oh man, checked the filled survey and must really ask, who that one guy was, that was completly satisfied with Rome2. Even the part with the "better than expected" made me slap my forehard so hard, that i could nearly make a sonicboom. Must be guys, who are new to this whole Total War.

It nearly expressed all my concerns and feelings about Rome 2. Hope this finally shakes CA/Sega awake and make them clear, that this can´t go on.

Totally agree. Some of those answers are mind-boggling...people must be playing a different game to me if they're so satisfied.

And we all know that, in relation to your question, it's Krisslanza

No, but I can add questions whenever I want, so if you guys want to put your heads together and come up with one I'm all ears.

Only problem is you won't be able to submit your own vote if you've already completed and the sample group will ovs start from when the question goes in.

Unless I make an entirely new one dedicated solely to combat mechanics...

Its ok, just beside CAI, blobbing is one the biggest issues with game. Definitely in the top 3 issues (for me)

Hey man, don't be harsh. I'm sure if I was 5 years old I'd find this game complicated too!

Its kind of pointless I feel, they know the problems, they read and respond to forums and facebook posts.

Done but some of the questions are already outdated as mods have fixed several areas of the game. So where I would have rated, say traits as high importance in at least 2 questions, I did not because they are no longer a priority with Hellbent's Traits, Talents, and Toadies mod. The mod is a reality and so something else on the list that is not yet modded was given more weight.

Other questions affected concern other mods that have fixed diplomacy (Magnar) and longer lifespans (all the overhauls are 2 -4 tpy or work with add-on turn mods), campaign features (Meaningful Resources, Melius Imperi, etc)... almost half the questions would ahve been answered differently without these mods having already fixed the problems.

Also, no where was there a question about one of the most burning problems with the game -- transformer army navies and the three ring ocean sailing circus, which also has snowball effects across the campaign, leading to full AI stupidity on city defense (there is none, all armies forced marching or more likely off at sea), and leaves little strategic importance to mountainous regions, valleys, bridges, natural choke points, etc because any half backed army can just sail around you.

Damn! Knew I'd forgot to put that in somewhere.

It's #1 concern for many, knowledgeable players and modders here. The repercussions of this "feature" have only become clearer and more horrible with time.

Rep for your efforts though, pretty great start to what might be some better communication with CA.
