Mithridatic Wars and Roman Civil Wars
The above shows approximately the Republic's expansion by this period, it is not quite the correct time frame- but it is as close and accurate as I could find to make my point.
New plan starting somewhere around Social war/Mithridatic War, hopefully using Augustus map can show Roman Republic in chaos, but dominating the westetn Mediterranean, but on the verge of civil war!
Hellenistic kingdoms in their final days, Parthia a power to be reconned with, Hasmoneans before Herod is installed, Nabadateans are sycoenism culture of Hellenistic and Semitic and local power.
Ptolemaic Egypt is essentially broken propt up by Rome but who knows.
The Seleukid dynasty lost it's last great army in 129BC, since then been on the back foot against Parthia, but still intent on fighting itself from inside. But now little more than Syria and Kilikia parts of Koile-Syria .
Next; WIP 2 160/150 BC "Rome enters the Hellenisic World" (Edit: Will wait and see what Baktria DLC brings, still hoping for Indians)
At start date the Romans cover western Spain, Italy, protectorates in Illyria and Hellas. In the East the Seleukids are still strong, they have had revolt of Maccabees, and had lost areas over the past few decades but were still largest state in Known world at this time. But is the arrival of Alexander Balas defined the beginning of Seleukid collapse and the vacuum left favoured both Rome and Parthia.Spoiler Alert, click show to read:Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The above map shows rise of Baktria and their spread and division into India, the rise to greatness was ironically their undoing as it openned the door to the Kushans .Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ok so lots of maps. But essentially what I am saying in a short space of time just over 50 years the whole known Hellenistic world is turned upside down forever.
TO Do list:
Expand Parthian possessions to fit 140/150 BC
Two Seleukid factions: Alexander Balas and Demetrios I
Expand Attalid possessions and make Pergamon capitol
Sparta changed to Akhaian league
Hasmoneans ???
Need to check references for Baktria and Indo-Greeks, Saka and Kushans
Sadly I am full of ideas, I admit this not my first 'plan of action' but with a little help it can be done. At first it will be hard to get it as historically accurate as I would like, limitations without the modding tools. But should at least offer initially a different scenario.
Must thank Dresden and TWH and many others for inspiration. Now I just need to mess with files
If you feel you would like to help me, even with just guidance and moral support please do.
Thank you for your time
