I think it's a good idea, even if not planned, to release a beta version of the TW:R2 Assembly Kit.
First, modders will be able to experiment it and list bugs and other issue they have when using these tools.
Second, CA will be able to "spot" most involved modders, these who could be use as a link between CA teams and modding community to send them question and to release tutorials to help other modders. This could be "elitist", but I doubt that an open communication channel between TW community and CA could really work. This as to be "serious" and "professional" to not loose time on "trivial" issues.
Third, the Modding Summit, allowing direct discussion between modders and CA, is a good way to try to reconciliate them and eventually discuss of subject that CA would not discuss in forums.

The modding summit should last only 1 day, this is a very short time to discuss about TW:R2 modding. It should be well organized and prepared by both CA and modders if we want it to be really useful.

So you think the modding summit could serve as a conclusion of the beta ? I guess it is a fine plan. Maybe the multiples retards were a good thing after all.

Not a conclusion, but to start direct communication between modders and CA.

    Hi Guys,

Just to let you know the mod summit has been moved and I’m sorry about that but we wanted to wait for the Assembly kit to be released before the summit which was later than we expected. I’ll be organizing the new date and the summit itself with you guys and I should have that in place soon- hopefully in a few days I’ll have a confirmed date if that helps.
If anyone is interested in tagging along or finding out more please PM me

Any chance you could skype the summit meeting for some of us in the modding community?

    Hi guys,

Confirmed date is March the 3rd, I'm now just sorting out the logistics. The Agenda, which I should be posting so you can see what kind of things we'll be talking about in the summit considering we've gone about it a little differently this year. Thanks to everyone that PM'ed me with suggestions for modders- you've been awesome. There's a fair few of you TWC guys in and I've picked a variety of modders to make it fair and useful for all aspects of the modding community.
I'll keep you updated on my progress

Good luck all. I hope something very fruitful comes about.

And something can be done about the current inability of anyone to add in modded music with these crazy .wem files. *ahem*

To those that are going, I wish you the best. And, ah.......don't forget to put support for the ability to create campaign maps from scratch on the agenda? I know it didn't result in much for Shogun II, but I'm sure Rome II would fare better.

Do you have had a look to Imjin War project ?
But creating or even expending the campaign map need a lot of work... and time.

CA told, during TW:R2 Assembly Kit release that tehy were still working on Campaign Map and Battlemap buildings tools.
SO, I hope we will see something about during the Modding Summit.

All respect to SII modders. I certainly don't mean to belittle their efforts. I just think the ancient era will motivate more people to do the hard work you mention.

I do not ever recall CA saying they were working on campaign map building tools?

I would imagine a TeD2 for R2 would be a given but it was always up in the air whether or not CA would invest in a first of its kind campaign map tool. Perhaps Joey could answer this?

As Lesta already pointed out if you can do it for Shogun 2 so Rome 2 is possible.

The question as someone already pointed out is whether or not you want to put the time and effort into putting it together.

That's an impressive mod. May make me go back to Shogun 2 when it's all finished.

I hope there many people realize that there is not just necessary to give modders what that doles as a tool for creating maps that done badly and access to the sounds, the whole approach to these tools, their complexity, mystery file formats and algorithms for processing game, complete impracticality tools to large volumes of work - all this will not give modding Rome2 develop. Need an a completely different tools and technical documentation. Now create 200 qualitative models and make them into the game process is simply not real, because of the inconvenience of tools and algorithms for processing files incomprehensibility. Now, the whole policy towards modding based on the principle to give people the opportunity to play with the children's designer "LEGO", instead of doing what really serious and high quality/
Do not need to to request the CA which is smaller features and additions necessary to request the CA to change completely the approach to the tools and technical support modding.

It may be just me, but as far as maps are concerned, I'd rather not trade the scope of what can be modded for ease of use, if that's the dilemma.
