Video Tutorial: Armor recolor using Gimp

Here is a pretty straightforward Video tutorial I made doing a simple armor re-color using Gimp.
Hope it helps some people out.
For some odd reason it does not start at the beginning, just rewind it

Tools you will need to do what is done in the Video's:

1. Rome 2 Total War

2. Packfile Manager (free) Get it here: packfilemanager

Part 1 deals with finding and recoloring the diffuse file.

Part 2 deals with making the specular and gloss_map as well as adding the files to the rigid model using Hex Editor Neo, it's a bit longer but go's step

Just extract the DDS plug in to your Gimp Plug Ins folder.

Program Files / Gimp 2 / Lib / Gimp / 2.8 / Plugins

How do you guys replace the old texture entries in the hex file with the new one?

If I don't do it by hand (not find and replace), it completely messes up the model.

It looks like you made mistakes in the hex editor, delete the rigid model you created and do that step over again with the hex editor.

Something confused me too. There are 3 files.. lorica_segmentata_a lorica_segmentata_b and lorica_segmentata_c The variantmeshdefinition only referenced one "lorica_segmentataleather_c.rigid_model_v2" do i only have to do it for c? i did a and b too but..

Got it to work :3 but it doesn't look as good as I hoped. I'm going to work with the hamata model instead. and try and give it a leather segmenta emboss.

What would make me crash when loading my unit in a custom battle at 50%? I fixed it once but I had no idea what I did.
