Default cant let the mod work ( steam version)

so after years of not playing RTW i decided to buy rome total war again just for the Roma Surrectum 2 mod tryed to install it all day and night i reinstalled countless times in both the same way as other experimental ways

pretty much im feeling like im losing my mind here i want to play this mod so bad

i also went to a thread a friend linked me to and i did step #9 but did NOT work for me it kept saying something about .dll and when i try and start it trough the icon it says it has not been installed correctly and i should follow the steps

thing is i had it installed first and when i pressed my faction and pressed play it just froze it still played the music really iritating and loud but the launcher wouldnt launch anything

what do i do? im getting extremely frustrated

Ok cool, first of all uninstall everything and reboot, second I would suggest downloading and installing DirectX 9.0c here is a link you may already have this on your pc, but just to be sure install it again here is a link for the download http://www.filehippo.com/download_directx/, third reinstall RTW where ever steam installs it, then make an empty directory file in your root directory ie C: name it what ever you like, then copy/paste the RTW folder over to the new directory folder you just made then install RS2 to that folder you copied over and see how you go.

ok il give this a try

however im the kind of person that will do everything wrong unless u tell me what the purpose of something is ( this makes me understand why and how it must be done)

and u mean with root directory when i press my computer and it shows me C disk shared documents and documents of user? i just make a RTW folder between that?

or do i have to press disk C and make a folder next to program files and program data etc

and is the meaning of this that i actually launch it from the copied RTW folder in my root directory ie C:?

Hmm OK try this solution,In case the launcher does not work, and for some reasons we didn't manage to help you resolve the issue, please follow those instructions.

Running RSII through Steam is a hassle but not impossible. Several Beta Testers have successfully ran the game through Steam and have imparted their knowledge to the rest of the team so that Steam users are able to enjoy the game as well. To run RSII on Steam, it involves adding some extra lines of code to your game library and a bit off a different installation.

First, make a folder on your desktop. Install RSII to that folder. Once that is done, drag or cut and past all the files in the folder to your C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold or whatever other version of RTW you may have.

For those who have Vista or Windows 7, the directory should be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold or whatever other version of RTW you may have.

Once that is installed, open your steam launcher and browse to your game library. You should see RTW or BI or ALX depending on the version you have. For demonstration purposes, I am using Portal (the only steam game I have).

Right click on your RTW game and select Properties

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

You should be taken to a window like this, select Launch Options:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Once you have done that, type the following in the box like so:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Click OK - BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE SPACE before the "-mod"
This will allow you to play the ROMAN CAMPAIGN only. To play the OTHER campaigns, simply type in the other campaign names in place of Play_(campaign name here).

For simplicity's sake, I have enclosed ALL the campaigns that are available here in this post:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    -mod:play_Armenia -show_err
    -mod:play_Arverni -show_err

Hi RedDrag0n0, I saw this after I sent you a PM about your problem. onmy6 is giving excellent advice. But Ive been where you are now, lost in the wording and instruction advice. Hang in there, If you fail, don't hesitate to come back and ask for help again and again if necessary, until you get RS2 running. There's many ways and different words to use to explain what you can try.

    Good Gaming.

Also Steam users having a "failed to find steam" issue, copying the steam.dll file found inside the steam folder to the rome folder seems to fix this.

hey man i got it working thanks to the link SD_man gave me comment #12 no one explained it like that to me ( atleast i guess so everythings easier with pics)
so i got to ur vidlink late

anyways the first thing i did when it first failed was go to youtube and the first vid i saw was actually ur vid but i thought the guy was kinda to slow when he talked and sometimes not easily understandable i also found compared to the other steam fix vids( wich all failed) his vid seemed to long and atm i didnt have the patience for it

so ty for ur time effort and ur patience for trying to help someone out who needed it u def gave me hope to keep trying

anyways this post is getting kinda lenghty tho 1 last question

as rome i entered lan battles solo (since theres no custom battle) to check what units i would eventually be able to recruit and i saw all these amazing looking roman units however their stats are almost all the same?

i havent played a total war game in 5 years or so and i have to relearn mostly everything thing is what is exactly the difference between em? am i missing something?

Those are representations of the different legion #'s (Legio I, Gemini, Hispania 9, etc) recruitable in the campaign. Some wear different armour/equipment so I can only imagine that they would have slightly different stats, at least hidden.
