West Osgiliath is retaken, and 8,500 orcs mass on the western shores of the Anduin. Including the garrison at Cair Andros, Mordor’s forces number over 10,000. Run, Gondor. Run.

A series of clever moves by the good side! For the benefit of anyone spectating, I thought I would take a screenshot of the situation before my turn.

Gondor and Rohan are trying to trap Dawndeath’s army. Notice that both good stacks are out of Dawndeath’s attack range, but with their increased movement they can probably reach Dawndeath where he now sits. So moving east or west, or staying in the fortress is to guarantee defeat. Instead, Dawndeath moves north to the bridge on the road to Woldberg. Here is where we will make our stand. Only Denethor (10 stars) and about 2900 men can make the attack. Defending we will have Dawndeath (8 stars) and almost 4300 orcs, plus whatever defensive bonus the bridge provides in AR. We are optimistic about a victory, though we fear Gondor’s elite units.

I anticipated this move as a possibility, but an unlikely one because it would leave Gondor’s heartlands completely exposed. But the good side has decided to gamble! One thing is for sure: this stratagem had better work out for them. If it doesn’t, then not only does Dawndeath escape to plunder the north, but Gondor’s heartlands are WIDE open.

On a brighter note for the evil alliance, Minas Tirith was reclaimed. Mordor’s skilled spy, embedded in the city since before Gondor retook it, managed to open the gates. Five Gondor generals were killed, so this won’t hurt his economy very much. But it will help mine tremendously.

Waiting anxiously for Gondor’s turn!

My apologies for making you wait Joe. Not intentional! Denethor's other job gets in the way of him defending Gondor.

Having just reclaimed the prized White City, there was confusion among the troops. Had Denethor gone mad? Why did he march to Rohan?

The White City has been lost again. As doubt is cast over Gondor, Denethor takes his best men and engages Mordor's forces near Rohan. A Nazgul leads the great orc host as it withdrawls across a fork of the Entwash. Despite the orc's superior defensive position, Denethor knows that he must spill blood if there is hope for Gondor to survive.

And survive Gondor just might...

The orc rabble greatly outnumbered Denethor's brave men, but they were no match for Gondor's best sons! The Nazgul is defeated in a costly battle for both sides. Much glory for Gondor is gained this day, yet the Witch-King follows in pursuit so it may be short-lived...

Well played, you guys. It looks like I was right to fear Gondor's elites. It didn't help that my army was mostly rabble.

This defeat stings, but we shall recover. There are thousands more orcs ready to join the armies of Mordor, and now we shall have the gold to recruit them!

New plans are set into motion. Rohan and its elfish allies will not be allowed to send all of their armies against our ally Isengard without fear of attack from the east. And the Steward and his son shall not celebrate their victory without the knowledge that the people they left behind will pay dearly for it.
