Only just found out today that combining unit cards is possible thanks to Dago the Red. I figured if I didn't know many others might not so now you may.

It was there in other Total War games too. It has its advantages.
please refresh my memory. what does that do?
August Strindberg: "There's a view, current at the moment even among quite sensible people, that women, that secondary form of humanity (second to men, the lords and shapers of human civilisation) should in some way become equal with men, or could so be; this is leading to a struggle which is both bizarre and doomed. It's bizarre because a secondary form, by the laws of science, is always going to be a secondary form. Imagine two people, A (a man) and B (a woman). They start to run a race from the same point, C. A (the man) has a speed of, let's say, 100; B (the woman) has a speed of 60. Now, the question is 'Can B ever overtake A?" and the answer is 'Never!'. Whatever training, encouragement or self-denial is applied, the proposition is as impossible as that two parallel lines should ever meet."
that would be extremely handy rep to all
thanks
If you have opted into patch 7, might want to quicksave before every time you use CTRL + M. It tends to crash the game all too often.
Something i just noticed, you can merge units with Control + M.
Maybe someone else hasn't noticed this. Cheers.

No any need to open an extra thread here for it. You really should use the search function before you open a new thread.
So its already known.
TWC got an extra thread for such hints and gameplay infos like e.g. this:

First I've ever heard of this, where have I been all these years!?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but by using this can you merge two units of 200 men into one unit card of 400 men?? By Jupiter
no you cant. but you can merge two half destroyed units into single full strength...
Extra troops are dumped into a depleted unit.
I find that the function some times plays around too much with experience as it doesn't sort according to chevrons.
Could be best to do it manually if you have battle-hardened veterans at hand.
I gues Barry12 was ironic ;-)
@ omzdogare you sure it's still possible to do it manually ? I thought crtl M was the only way to merge since shogun 2 But the old way with the left click had an advantage : you could choose which unit you wanted to re-fill so you could group veterans

" Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room! "
Meh. Units replenish in 1-2 turns anyway.
As far as I remember all Total War games had that feature...

This function has been in the series for a while. I used it a lot in empire, as it costed money back then to replenish your troops, and if finances were tight you could save money by merging the two units into one; as you pay less upkeep. It is not so useful in ROME 2, as your troops will magically replenish from near destruction in 2-3 turns with no cost anyway.
This, and the fact you lose experienced units by merging makes it unnecessary. If you do, you can pick which two individual units will merge, but you cannot pick which one of these two will be 'refilled' and which one will disappear, so make sure to merge units with the same or similar experience to avoid losing high ranks. All in ll try to avoid it if you can, but in saying this I recommend always doing it with mercenaries due to their cost.
In all honesty, you should be able to merge any two troops so long as they have similar weapon types or mounts.
All artillery for instance is just engineers.
Perhaps for drastic armor differences you should only be able to merge into lesser armor something similar.
My 2 cents.
