Thread: So i picked up blood-pack and gave the game another go.

  1. #1

Default So i picked up blood-pack and gave the game another go.

I attacked Apollonia with my Spartan allies, there they marched in the distance, i thought i'd let them take the brunt of the attack and lie back, "i'l see how these Spartans fight!" i thought to myself.

I zoom in on them to see their grandeur only to find that as they run forward they're doing a weird little "back-lean " motion every few seconds in unison, (sorry no other way to describe it) and they seem to shudder forwards, looks ridiculous and this wasn't present the last time i played but, "hey! they'l loosen up once they get into the fighting right?"

    WRONG!

As the Spartans advance along the beach their front units stop, their back units start jostling in a circular motion like mad trying to get into position, "ok," i think to myself, "this looks very stupid but it'l settle down any second now," except it doesn't, it just goes on and on, the army is now bugged-out completely as hundreds of little men jostle crazily all trying to fit into the same space, the entire group now stuck and unable to progress.

"OK!" i say to myself, "i'l initiate the attack without you buggy Spartans!" So i move my slingers forward, they start the age-old trick of slinging the completely motionless enemy to death, sling, enemy runs away and is replaced by new unit to just stand there, sling, etc, and then i notice that one stone covers an enemy entirely in blood, i mean from head to toe in red like he'd been dumped in a tub, it looks so dumb, and THEN to top it all off, i notice that my own slingers, which have NOT been attacked by ANYONE at all are also totally covered in blood, have they been slinging themselves?!!

CA, is it any wonder people are unhappy when the quality of your work is like this?

I've said in the past that i don't want any more of your stuff and i won't buy it, and then i go ahead and buy it anyway, it's because deep down i want you to succeed, i've loved your games in the past, but such is my disinterest now that this time i'm going to say i don't even feel like playing Rome 2 anymore and therefore i naturally don't feel the need to buy any more accessories for it.

I hope i keep feeling this way because every bit of money i send your way turns me into a bigger fool, shame on you for releasing such a busted product.

i have seen evisceration, but few and far between and the guys sword usually clips through the dudes back like an old 50's war film where its clearly going through the place between your arms. The trailer of course made it seem like there would be limbs and heads and blood purting everywhere like the ambush in the movie centurion. of course not.

The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

Decapitation's or the cut off of the limbs only show if your unit texture is above or equal to medium. Other than that, zoom in and watch carefully.

I've seen head decapitation and cut off limbs, but it's rare.

    Haha!
Sorry to laugh at your pain and misfortune, but this picture was too well drawn in words not to invoke laughter. Well done.

On a more somber note, I hope you learned your lesson. Honestly the information is all here on the forums, pictures posted of how bad it looks, a video of it looking pretty good but the guy's FPS is so bad, his game stuttering so badly under the strain of high textures that it gave people headaches just watching it. So, the game performs like a schizoid embolism on the high texture settings that it needs to actually look good (as in as good as Napoleon / Shogun) and include the goodies you thought you paid for, but even if you have the rig and the card necessary to turn those settings up that high (I do), you cannot enjoy the game because it stutters and gives fps dropouts.

Moreover, I thought it was well known that not only did CA pass off a fraudulent pre-purchase scam full of bait and switch and garbage, but they are cynically relying on people like you to suck it up and buy more DLC's anyway, because they know how badly you want this to be a great game. Don't buy into it. Don't buy anything from CA until this vanilla game is worth money and they have delivered on at least 90% of their pre-purchase claims and promises.

Well I guess I really wont be investing any more in Rome II. I already stopped playing and now this. What a waste, I only hope modders can repair the edifice CA built and perhaps by this time next year I'll be able to get a modicum of enjoyment out of what should have been a great game. Well a man can dream right?

I'm turning blood pack effects off. I had hoped it would make the game more realistic but it's so over the top, as you said,

i thankfully did not buy this, but my friend did despite my warnings. i watched him play it and its underwhelming to say the least. the ony real cool thing about it is the javelin effects/arrows. but at least have what they show in the damn trailer, is that too much to ask for?

on a side note: the blood on the characters amount and color reminds me of the original FEAR game lol.

Dont settle for crumbs from your masters table. They made Rome 2 one of the biggest fiascos of this year. Then they want to milk your wallet further.

if only CA would revise their system requirements. I am 100% sure at least 50% of the complains would be gone if CA is just honest and realistic with the system requirements.

My PC is above average and i'm being modest when i say that, so although you may be correct your point doesn't apply to me, assuming it was aimed at me of course.
