Asus 770 - can't see any noticeable difference. Nvidia apparently said that they couldn't do anything more for Rome 2 a month back.

PS: I notice a better fps. Don't know if is it due to the new drivers or the last patch or the both

So.. ..a negligible change at best. Sad, but perhaps that is to be expected. By the way, last time I heard anything from Nvidia about R2 was that:
"We continue to work with the developer to make Rome II SLI-friendly. Once they patch the game we can make a profile."
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...war-rome-ii/13

And that was in late September, not a peep since then as far as I can tell.

tested it, no improvements in performance using the new driver (forest benchmark)

but the HBAO+ looks nice on Civ 5 - you will likely see the difference in a direct comparison of two screenshots, without that probably it is unnoticable.

Here is my current setup: FX-8350, ASUS 7870 Ghz Edition, 8GB RAM. Most of my settings are on VH, some on high. With the 13.9 stable drivers I was averaging ~55 FPS in the Forest benchmark. I had ran it quite a few times and it only went up or down from 55 by a couple frames. I ran with the 13.11 beta 6 drivers and now I am averaging ~69 FPS give or take a couple for each test. AMD did us a solid. Very good and a huge thumbs up from me. Can't wait to see what it will do with a second 7870 in CF.

Thanks for the feedback Praetorian, I have a 7870 aswell and great to hear about the performance increase. Will get the beta installed here shortly.

No problem man. I was skeptical of the performance increase since AMD drivers tend to suck and this is coming from a fanboi. I haven't run a big battle with it yet but I am sure it will still lag. 8350 is definitely not a bottleneck for the forest benchmarks and smaller battles so it was a true test of how good the drivers do for the GPU. By my tests and from I have heard of several others running 7870 cards down to the 6000 series increase ~25%. On the flipside feedback I have seen for the 7950 and 7970 hasn't been as positive. Oddly, it only seems to increase for most of those guys by a couple frames. I saw some feedback on other forums where users with 6000 and IIRC 5000 series cards saw double digit FPS increases.

Just ran a normal battle with 4000 men with the new driver. I don't want to reinstall the old one but I ran the test and with the new one it was markedly smoother until I was zooming into a cluster of units at which point it becomes CPU dependent. I spent quite a bit of time in cinematic mode. Attached is the graphics settings I have been using since I started playing the game.

    Rome2
    Frames: 25031 - Time: 478002ms - Avg: 52.366 - Min: 14 - Max: 96

Frametimes average at 19 ms which is pretty good for AMD cards. Microstutter becomes obvious at 30ms and over. I normally run with v sync on but for benchmarks I turn it off.

No performance improvement on a GTX 670 at maxed out settings (above extreme preset)

    Reference Forest benchmark - 30.x fps min 7 max 46. Patch 5

Why not running maxed out as well? Those settings are ridiculous for your card and Shogun will give you 80fps+ maxed out

That is an ignorant comment. Shogun 2 is actually decently optimized and this game runs like garbage. You might like running at 30 FPS but for me the little extra difference in graphics is not worth the hit. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, 30 FPS compared to 60 feels choppy and I won't play with choppy. Maybe when I crossfire I will be able to max but until then it is just fine where its at.

My post is not ignorant but it is poor to see a card of your choice needs so low settings to have reasonable framerates.

It seems you are not much in the topic. Crossfire would not enable you to play maxed out.

No one wants to play choppy that's why are upset having excellent hardware and Rome 2 cannot handle it (not otherwise)

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I thought that it was a jab directed at my card. It is sad to see the TW series going down the toilet so fast. The graphics have barely improved from Shogun yet this runs like total garbage. It comes down to a matter of whether or not this will scale well in CF. Many other modern games scale 70-100% with the 7870 so I am hoping that this will be able to do as well. The graphic settings right now don't look all that great and I am sick and effing tired of the zombie faces.
