Am I allowed to post in the Curia and Symposium without being in the needed ranks?

I thought I couldn't even enter them until I tried today!!!

You can enter the Symposium and Curai, but you have to be a Civitate or higher to post in the Symposium and a Patrician or higher to post in the Curia.

You do not have posting permission in those forums, IE you cannot if you wanted to.

No, it is there it is just that if you click on it you will not be allowed to post at all.

The forum software is too lazy to look up whether you can post or not on every page view, since 90%+ of the time you won't want to post anyway. It only checks if you try. Or so I assume . . . I know next to nothing about optimization, but I thought it pulled up your group permissions regardless, and so checking should only add microseconds for a conditional . . . but then again I haven't looked at the code. Maybe nobody cared enough to add the conditional, or something.

Of course, could be the admins screwed up your permissions and you can in fact post. It's happened before (vB makes it easier than it probably should), although mainly with higher ranks than ordinary user. Give it a try, it should give you a "no permission" message.

Firstly you can't enter the Curia as a Civitate, you need to be a Patrician
The reason the Symposium is resticted is that its a section to keep the Civitates happy and as a prize to those who post well and help out
The Curia is becasue it decides issues onn staff policy, even with the Civitates there it was difficult, with everyone it''d be impossible

the Curia, because its the place of TWc Government, and only the most worthy contributing members chosen by the CdeC post there...

the Symposium, because its a place for civitates intellectual discussions with no chance of mindless spam and one liners from thoose who havn't yet proved worthy or been noticed by a patrician

You know what? I would agree if it wasn't for the part about most posting nice to get the position, I don't post aany nicer then in real life, infact I'm a lot more of a bastard here then in RL. I'm sure there are a few who do, but they are few
