Thread: Vertex weights

  1. #1

    Default Vertex weights

I need a Little help with plugging in a unit.
    Here is the unit

Now, when I try and put the unit in game,

    I get this

I noticed that it only showed what I had rigged to the skeleton myself (the rest was done using the merge tool in GOAT)

So I went to every joint, clicked selected assigned, and clicked assigned (thus reassigning it) for every joint. I put that in game and

    I got this

However, now there is no vertex weighting so everything moves clunky.

So here is the question, how do I reassign the vertexes to their joints while retaining the vertex weighting (or fix whatever the problem is for just putting it in anyway)?

I am not sure that I understand what you mean by "clunky" but certain vertices have to be weighted on more than one bones.
    Maybe that's what you missed.

Well, it is not that I don't know how to weigh the vertexes, it is just that for some reason the ones I haven't personally assigned to are invisible in game. (the rest of the model is from two units I edited) The problem is fixed if I go to joints, clicked select assigned, then click assign. This does mean that, if say I select the torso joint and do this, it all of those vertexes are completely assigned to the torso joint and thus it loses its weighting. I was wondering if there was a way for me to reassign the vertexes with the weighting they have now, as I'll probably never be able to do that as good as the games original makers as I would just be guessing.
