Thread: Removing officers from a unit?

Default Removing officers from a unit?

This might sound like a silly question which no one else is looking into, but for very specific reasons, I am trying to remove the officers from the units, so they contain nothing but the fighting men themselves. I have been looking at the land_units table in which you can swap officers, but there no way to choose something like "none".. Do anyone know how I should proceed?

I do not think you can. The battle_personalities_tables is what controls the officers and what they are for each unit. land_units_officers_tables is the key to those files and is what you see on the land_units_tables. Since a General takes their place in a campaign, the game crashed if there is no officer to swap with. I like the officers in my opinion, but I did not like that all officers for cavalry used spears and the type of armor they used, so i modified the models, so each officer will be different each time.

William, do you know if its possible to edit officer stats? im trying to make a one-man hero unit with great stats but i only get the officer with standard stats, if there is no way to remove officers can i tweak their stats?

Officers do not have their own stats. They use whatever unit they are part of. The officer is only its type of animation. You cant change an officers weapons unless you change that officers animation from the battle_personalities_tables. Then you need to change the model accordingly. The only way you can make a 1 man unit is to make a unit with 0 men and just use the officer. You can alter the officers looks to be anything. For example, all my Rome officers are use hamata or segmentata armor and use swords.

However, when you play a campaign, you be using a general, and the general will be the lone man, since officers are replaced by generals.

ty William, i was able to change the looks of the officer but i cant get the one-man unit be powerful enough. One more thing, can i get the officer to throw pillums or javelins?

    sorry for my english :p.

I'm not sure, but I think so. Under the model file, it has the weapons the officer uses. Number 4 is ranged like Javelins. Check the variantmeshdefinitions tutorials to learn this. Un the units stats, make sure the unit can use javelins and it might work.

The only way I think you could make a solo unit, is to modify the man infantry hit points to like 500 [similar to elephants] and make the unit have really high attack/defense and armor. That would require enhancing the armor or shield files.

Its a damn shame that you cant remove the officers, I'm shooting a movie in which I need a single archer to step forward and take a shot. Kinda difficult when all officers are melee only.

Stoferr, i managed to remove the officer from a royal peltast unit (with the help of William1976 and JObadiah). Im trying to create a greek heroes mod with one-man units and i nedded to get the actual unit soldier, not the officer but it appears that the soldier gets the officer behavior, anyways i tought this may help you: i created a new row in land_units_officers table with a blank officer1 column, and in the land_units table i set my new row as the units officer, and then in main_units i set nummen column to 2 because aparently the officer is the first soldier in the unit and if you remove your officer and you set your unit to 1 you get 0 soldiers in the unit and the game crashes.

I hope this is useful , but if you need more info just tell me. Sorry for may english since im not good at it but i try my bets .

PS im not sure if this could help with your one archer unit because i noticed the soldier behave as an officer when there is no officer.
