    Default Medieval TW battle problem

So, after applying the button fix posted in age old threads, my MTW Gold plays just fine in the campaign map. Problem is that in battles I can not click or direct my units. After a lot of search I found that many people had this problem but I was wondering if there has been a solution I can't find. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT.

Probably still too new a Nvidia card. Medieval1 = AMD/ATI.

So nothing on that front eh? Well campaign is harder with only auto-resolve anyway!

Read the whole forum on this and you will find Nvidia quit supporting the .Net and directx along with some other goodies when they released their 8000 series cards and how long ago was that? This was an issue for some time at the old .Com forums, too. One of their Moderators agreed to disagree on this point.

One reason Axalon has had no problem, AMD card.

Shame though...although it forces me to be extra careful in the campaign...I guess I can roleplay

The problem in this case is the GFX-card… All Nvidia 8xxx and 9xxx are with little exception a "no go" on MTW (as Irishron already pointed out)… I hear some of the newer Nvidia cards might work (on Redux at least), but in general ATI/AMD has a much better track record overall with MTW. Been that way for years. I’m an ATI/AMD-man myself so I know little about NVIDIA’s cards personally.

So, the only true solution in this case is to get a new GFX-card somehow... It does not need to be fancy and expensive but it has to be something else then a Nvidia Gforce 8xxx or 9xxx – that much is clear. Maybe buy some 2nd hand cards? Its a cheap and effective solution to your problem. The ATI X800 or X850 Pro/XT (both PCI-E/AGP) or ATI 9800 Pro (AGP only?) are probably among the best 2nd hand cards you can get for MTW1 (using Win2000 drivers, typically delivers optmal MTW-performance)– that is if you can find some (the latter should be easier to find). I have few other ideas for you, sorry...
