Thread: "Demoralized" Trait

    Default "Demoralized" Trait

Apologies in advance if I have posted this question in the wrong area. I cannot find any other mention regards this trait in any searches of the forum.

I have been having great fun playing RSII for a while, especially enjoying the Roman faction with the Cursus honorum and the various classes and their professions. I do have a question regards the trait "demoralized". Obviously a FM gets this when they've been beaten in battle, but what trigger is able to reverse this? I have tried the obvious in having the same FM fight and win further battles, but the trait remains. Oddly, I cannot find this trait in the export_descr_character_traits file. Is there a counter-trait? Is it possible this is an error in my install?

That is the description for what used to be 'Bad Commander'.....and yes, a character who gets this can win battles and reverse that trait. He will never be a 'great' commander, but he can advance to a decent one.

Thanks for the reply. Yep, demoralized does correspond to the bad commander trait in its effects.

One question though - why does 'very bad commander' (-1 command, -1 influence, -1 troop morale) have less an effect than 'bad commander' (-2 command, -2 influence, -2 troop morale)?

The idea behind this was to take the 'BadCommander' trait and make it 'not so bad'. So through the triggers, a commander who intially sucks may get the 'BadCommander' trait....BUT, that doesn't necessarily mean he was a bad commander. He could've been unlucky, out numbered, etc., so I give him a chance to redeem himself if the player so chooses to give him that chance. By subsequently winning battles, he rises in the 'BadCommander' trait to the point where he becomes just a 'normal commander'...not bad, not good, just nominal.

I did the same thing with the 'Coward' trait.....giving the character the chance to remove it.
