    Hey guys, over the past few weeks i have been working on a small mod for myself and anyone else who is interested. I have made many changes to the starting conditions and various other things and would like to get your feedback.

    Here is the change log...

    1. Gave very large starting funds to all nations.

    It will seem at first like too much money but you will not be able to build all buildings and recruit all units as you might think. These funds will allow you to recruit generals and admirals for your armies and navies right away. Invest in an infrastructure of railways (this is very important) and economic buildings or just build a massive army and or navy right away, whatever you decide it will have a major effect on the future of your nation.

    2. Added large starting armies for all major nations.

    All major nations now have 2-4 starting armies comprised of a mix of early units.

    3. Decreased movement points for all units including navies.

    All movement points have been decreased dramatically. The point of this is to stop the steamroll that usually ensues early in the game. This also puts more emphasis on building railroads. If you would like to send a fleet a long way across the map it will now make using light cruisers and battlecruisers very important as they still have a large movement range compared to the rest of the navy.

    4. Reduced upkeep.

    Early land units now have a very reduced upkeep but the later units are still the same. Naval units as well have a reduced upkeep making maintaining a large navy now possible.

    5. Reduced naval unit costs and recruitment times.

    You will now be able to have a rather large navy fairly early on. Pre-dreadnought battleships and Battlecruisers are now much more accessible although Dreadnought Battleships are still rather expensive. Also you will be able to build these ships are a much faster rate, the longest recruitment time is now 12 turns.

    6. Increased tax revenue.

    7. Reverted to an older version of the AI.

    This will hopefully fix the issue of German only building a navy all the time.

    8. Made 2 units of cavalry available on turn 1.

    9. Increased gentlemen cap and spawn rate.

    I believe that is everything I changed. There are a few more things i want to change but I'd like to get this out sooner rather than later. Also I dont believe this is same game compatible but this is meant to change the early part of the game a lot so I would suggest starting a new game anyway.

    Just drop the folder into your data folder and overwrite the files. Make sure to make a backup just in case.


    Here is the updated version of my mod, sorry for the long wait.

    There is still an issue with Russia's Black Sea fleet not showing up and Spain's small fleet also not showing up but everything else should work as it was in the previous version with some small adjustments to starting armies and fleets.

    Let me know if anything is wrong or more balancing needs to be done. I plan on keeping up with this more in the future, again sorry for the long wait

    Is there any word on a new, more stable version? 5.1.2 still crashes quite a bit, generally in battles IMO

    I'm not sure what the plan is to fix the crashing issues, I believe the crashes are mainly caused by people pcs failing because there is so much going on but also it may have something to do with the sound fx. Try using Zeras sound mod it may fix this.

    I like it. The only thing I do not like, indeed the only thing I'd like to see changed in fact, is the movement rate. I'd prefer my armies to not take so long to traverse the UK etc. Apart from that it's excellent!

    P.S.

    Any way I can change it back to the original movement settings without compromising the entire sub-mod?

    To change the movement points you have to use the PFM and load the db file. They are under units_tables.

    All you have to do to have your armies move faster is build railroads, it increases the movement by alot.

    BTW how far into the campaign have you played with my mod?

    I get to like May of 1915 in every nation, and then it crashes. It's too bad, because that's generally when it starts getting good.

    If you ever decide to release another version, can you make more large starting armies/Navies? Like two or three stacks of Germans for Alsace-Lorraine, 2 in Koenigsberg, and 4 for the Russians along the German border in the East? Some economic changes, like a massive boost in trade income which would make blockades disastrous would also be nice.

    Right now, blockades are pretty useless and the ground campaign doesn't get started till about March 1915.

    Ok I updated the OP with the fixed version of the mod. It isnt perfect but Ive played well into 1917 and Im having a blast as France

    Hello,

    i play as Austria and mine also crashed after Oct. 1914 but got the Problem solved after i killed all the Rebels.

    But after that it crashed at the End of Nov. 1914 when France had its turn.

    => tried do change the Files with the 5.13 and 5.12 Patches and Original Mod but it always chrashed at some point....

    Someone got a Fix for it?

    If not i have to stay with the orig. mod without B-DizL's Mini Mod :-(

    I havent had time to work on the mini mod lately because I'm currently working on the next update to the main mod, more info on that later

    Try using just the scripting file, which contains the starting armies, navies and starting funds and see if that works. That way we can narrow down where the problem lies and hopefully i can fix it at some point.

    Thats odd, ive heard of people having issues with that, not sure why. Did it work with just the scripting file?
