Default Failed Claims of CA Before the Release

Bring me the claims that were made before the release of Rome II that you think were not fulfilled and I will add it to a list in the opening post.

However, don't post any of them if you have no sources. I want quotes from articles or company websites. If it's a video of a CA member talking in it or made by CA I want exact time interval of the claim that's made in there. Be as precise as possible and give clear explanations on why you think those claims failed.

Be civil and do not rants. Any post that simply rants about what a bad game Rome II is will be reported as off-topic. Either give me the examples I'm asking for or comment on those examples in a civil manner.

I may be inclined to label posts with new claims and no sources as disruptive posting as well. Don't bother posting a new claim if you can't or not willing to source it.

    1 Claim #1:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Initiated by: Kinjo
Jack Lusted's fake pikemen fighting with pikes video (pikemen don't use pikes and run around as swordsmen in the actual game)

    1:41

    Incorrect.

    2 Claim #2:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Initiated by: Prince Regent George
The Creative Assembly's representatives promised us an admirable variety of elephant armour, which is however totally inexistent in the actual game.
    CA:
We're beavering away on the final stages of ROME II, but thought we'd share with you some of the awesome unit variants going into the game.

    Incorrect.

@OP: I remember one of the CA Devs say they had 40% more budget in the game. After this fiasco it makes you wonder where it all went (cough cough marketing cough cough).....

I really don't know how simple I can make this. Any post after this point that does not clearly source the claim and provide extensive explanation why the claim failed will be reported as off-topic and disruptive.

    Biggest budget among the series...

    Few historical battles
    2 to 3 ships in a unit

They even released a rally point talking about AI and PHALANX...

    Missing features
Players can have 30,000+ soldiers in battle...

    Just watch angry joe review....

    Absolutely astonishing.

I never watched the utube clips, preferring to stay away from the adverts. But I really had no idea that the `adverts` were more or less bold-faced lies. Even now, having seen this, I`m still shocked after all we were told at the end of Shogun 2 and the start of RTW2 developement.

They have 0 respect for any of their TW fans - None.

That comparison is not true. It's quite obvious that complainants in-game shots are not the graphics at full levels.

If one is trying to play the game on antiquated hardware, that is not CA's fault.

That one will have to wait to be patched.

Regardless of how high I put graphics on my very competent machine, I can never reach levels in previews.
    Meaning the previews are falsehoods.

As for the wonders, this thread is here to identify marketing lies. Not tell us to wait for a patches.

I completely forgot about that. Yes they made that claim (source here) and it was obviously cut in development.

Probably the only actual example that Sutekh was asking for however. This is meant to be a thread where you can list valid failed claims (like the Napoleon unit editor), not rehash the tired old generic "this game isn't what I thought it would be".

Exactly. If I can get a mod to help and delete bunch of posts that do not meet the guidelines of the opening post it will work nicely. I will read and try to confirm each claim and start building up an actually accurate list.

Battle begins with Battle of the Nile intro.
Yet the battle was initiated on campaign map during interview.

As I said, the simple fact is those in game shots were done lower graphics levels. It's a false claim against CA.

Amongst the myriad false claims by the "hate parrots".

It is not a lie if the intent was to have them in the game. The question is whether they can fulfill the promise.

That was the pace we felt was right for Shogun 2. In Rome II the unit speeds are lower and combat lasts longer because that is right for this game.
On harder difficulties the AI will be more aggressive towards the player
Armies can embark and cross seas, but are vulnerable to actual navies.
There is improved usage of multiple cores across all areas of the game.
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...tal-War-Center

Naval battles in Rome II are going to be larger in scale than previous Total War games with multiple ships per units and hundreds of men in each unit.
For God made you the slaves of Rome.

There is improved usage of multiple cores across all areas of the game.
Shogun2 used a single core, Rome2 uses four cores. How is the above a false claim?

That is exactly where you and I differ.
You view preview screenshots as 'promises'.
For video games I don't. I say preview screenshots are marketable and thus the officers in charge of releasing that material should be held accountable for insinuating the previews would be the game.

That is why we call it an outright lie not failed promises.

    Rome2 uses four cores.
This I believe is fictitious. Rome2 process are held generally on a single major thread. Other threads are opened but that doesn't effect performance at all.
