The game...Why did they release it like this?...

Through the

. my game keeps crashing( I think I might not have the full specs which is my fault, not theirs. I think I need an update on direct x 9 or 10 or something((im techno retard)) )

Anyone know though, when this game will actually be okay? Like when the penultimate patch will be out?

They clearly knew what they were releasing, why do it when they knew how we would react? I speant 50

ing euro on this, and I am struggling to afford university.

It's probably partly your fault that your game is crashing then.

As for the launch, probably SEGA told them to release or release, and they lacked the balls to say "No, the launch will be a disaster, we need a couple of months more." Anyway, it's happened and no one can say when it will be the game it was supposed to be (maybe never), it's much better now than how it was on the 3rd I'll give them that, but they still have a lot of work to do.

Or maybe it had nothing to do with the team being a bunch of eunuchs and everything with them simply wanting to keep their jobs

Well, I don't think there's any excuse for CA. The whole foundation of the game was already in place when they started development. The engine, basic AI etc. was already there. All they needed was to add new art and content, fix bugs from previous games, and tweak/test the gameplay. It shouldn't take a long time, because they didn't start from zero. Maybe that's why SEGA pushed them to release early?

Sega likely wanted it out before GTA V and hence it was rushed. Sounds like it could have used at least another six months in development.

Except what you're saying is an entirely over-simplified view of game development. The only thing that's really the same between the TWS2 and TWR2 is the engine. What you said was essentially the same as the following: Bethesda didn't really do much work when they made Fallout 3. Afterall, it has the same engine as Oblivion (gamebryo), so all they had to do was reskin some NPCs and throw in some dialouge and voila! game of the year.

They had to reanimate almost everything, create a new map, revoice everything, include new units, and drastically change gameplay dynamics (naval battles, city management, etc.). Not as simple as you make it sound. Not to mention the fact that all of this isn't drag and drop. It has to be coded, which takes a ton of time, and this code then has to be debugged.

Yeah, they could have rephrased it as "The PR damage this release is going to cause is far greater that the damage that would derive from postponing the game." apparently nobody thought of that.

I'm enjoying the game and my probelsm have been [thankfully] minimal, but I acknowledge the videos, screenshots and posts I have seen and that man,y many other people are not having a great time with it at all. As Shaun indicated above, they doubtlessly wanted to beat the GTA launch - and then Black Flag etc. So they rushed it, they quite simply rushed it out of the door.

The sad thing is that they sold a bunch and the people that matter - the people with the money and the say - THEY have a success on their hands, because all they care about are sales and money. Not futue sales, not if you are happy or not, not customer satisfaction. They play lip-service to these things, but in reality they know that they can wind up the PR machine again and get you to buy anything that they release. This is their world and the horrible truth is that the quality of the game and the happiness that you have with it do not rank on their list of "what's important."

Money. Money is important. They got this from you, they succeeded, now nothing else matters until they feel it's time to start milking the cash cow through DLCs.
