Well done detective, you'll make Sergeant for this

I think the more likely story is that they were running out of time for the game (because of Sega's deadline) and they decided that historical battles aren't as important as campaign and MP, so they scrapped some of them and released the historical battles section unfinished.

Maybe they'll be a DLC or FreeLC, or maybe they've been scrapped outright and CA just forgot to completely remove them

    Nice find!

Why did they produce a game with higher budget but with lesser historical battles compared to its predessor? I expected more historical battles since the announcement of rome2...

Looking at what Sega has done for Company of Heroes 2 my money is on DLC. They just can't release that stuff with a straight face seeing as how the game is currently.

No historical naval battles? like Actium?

At anycase i expect more historical battles down the line, just like shogun 2. Once the game is patched alot and the dlcs begin to be released.

I am so not a fan of historical battles. I much prefer 'what if' dynamic campaigns. They would also be a cheap way to DLCs. No, not good, but thats just me.

There's a ton of stuff in there. Even models for Scipio and Hannibal from the trailers. Definitely DLC. I'm not liking this.
I don't mean to sound like I'm hating here but I am kind of disappointed with a lot of things with Rome 2. Missing features, missing battles and the whole scope of everything doesn't feel anywhere near as epic as what was shown.

My teacher once told me that bending the truth was ok as long as you stay within your limits, but outright lying is a no go. CA went too far with the advertising.
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

When you saw that pre-alpha Carthage footage did you think your computer could really even handle it? I know 95% of our computers couldn't deal with so many units/effects/such a large city. So, if it's unplayable to most of your audience why would you put it like that in the game? All that was for was to look pretty. I never took that as representative of the game. That applies to all trailers. They are just marketing, not realism. I thought we all knew that by now.

As if making excuses for a company that lied and falsely advertised their product for over a year is the way to go. You're right though, 95% probably wouldn't be able to handle it, but that's why we have that wonderful thing called graphic options.. everybody's doing it.

False advertising. That's what it is. It matters not whether we could handle it or not. We were shown something we didn't get. It's the principle.

I get your point but you can't defend something like this.

There should also be a clear difference in labeling of such things as to what is a 'trailer' (ie pre-rendered, final fantasy cut scene style) and what is actual gameplay footage 'live' from in game. I am not sure they made that distinction clear at all.

But back to topic, yes I think there might well be 'historial battle dlc pack 1-3' maybe with each containing 3 or 4 historical battles. They might even be tied in 'faction dlc' so you buy the faction/s and you get the associated historical battles, mind you that doesn't explain why some big roman battles were left out, maybe they are going to release an 'ultra rome' dlc...

CA will possibly add some of it when the release Seleucid and the Steppe pack. The question is that are they going to be free or included in Steppe pack ?

Four is an embarrassing number of historical battles, and I am fairly sure more will be trickled to us via paid DLC.
