    Athalwulf's Natural Dyes Mod

    See the Roman world as it was meant to be seen! No more hideous, over-saturated uniform colors!



    DISCLAIMER: I need to emphasize that I can't take every single opinion into account and I can't make this mod for everyone. I'm choosing the colors for these factions based on historical accuracy and personal preference and I can only work with the tri-color template that the game allows. In a perfect world I'd go down to each unit and add all the possible colors but it just isn't possible for me.

    Love It! Really like these colour tones. Look very natural.. Now my Suebi Warriors won't look like anime characters anymore!

    Germania as a whole doesn't hurt my eyes anymore. I'm glad you like it.

    Feel free to suggest factions and colors to me as well. If I think it's a good idea I'll look into it.

    Good work mate, but I think your are worrying to much about faction colour?
    Maybe mix the colours around more so they don't look so uniformed would look better (IMO)

    Good work! Maybe some more variety in the colors so they don't look so uniform.

    And I know this is personal taste, but a bit more color saturation? I just like my lads to look like they're wearing their parade best.

    I don't think I'm worrying too much at all. I don't play factions that look bad, and I loathe going into battle against a faction with terrible colors.

    As far as I'm aware, it's impossible to give a faction more than 3 different colors to rotate between. If it was possible I'd give every faction a lot more options, but I don't think it is.

    NOTE: Just finished Parthia and Pontus. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing Parthia next now that the colors are tolerable. Only the Greek factions left and then I'll post the updated pack.

    Certain factions will have more saturated colors, such as places that would have high quality fabrics and dyes, but the Barbarian tribes look best in dull, muted colors in my opinion.

    Unfortunately it would be too much work for me to go and edit a pack for each person's tastes .

    Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I'm a huge fan of realism where possible so I felt compelled to make this. It started off as a personal project, but I figured I'd release it since I'm putting time into it.

    If anyone has any faction/culture suggestions let me know and I'll look into it.

    Great colors. Some mods have way too desaturated, but you've opted for a more realistic but still saturated look.
    Can't wait for screens of parthia and the others. Please do spend the time taking a screen of all the factions, and hotlink them in a spoiler tag in the main post here

    How do I download this? When I click on "natural dyes.pack" on the google link, it just says, "sorry, no preview is available."

    There's a download button in the bottom right.

    Uploading and linking pictures one at a time is so tedious... I guess I'll do it, though.

    Are you using Mitch's "Rome 2 Mod Manager?"

    That might be the issue. I'll update the thread. Uploading the new version as we speak.

    It is possible, but you have to do it unit by unit. Look at the unit_variant_color's table - I assume if you have two units of the same entry you just enter the name for the faction for a particular row. That is what I am doing for my carthage overhaul, and I'll have to credit you for the RGB values for the Arverni - just the kind of red/green/brown I was looking for.

    Alright, new version is up with some previews. I was too lazy to go grab screens of all the Germanic factions, but I'm going to touch them up later anyway.
