    Default Possible Campaign fix

This fix is somewhat inspired from the "Set Affinity" fix mentioned on the forums. I had tried that and it gave me very little results, so I am currently experimenting with something else.

Open Rome 2 and go to Task Manager (Ctrl+alt+delete). Find Rome2.exe on the list under the "Processes" tab. Go to Set Priority and there you should see that "Normal" is selected by default. Try setting it on "High" and see what happens. This should allocate more ram to your game and make things go smoother.

After trying this I noticed a considerable reduction in campaign lag as well as in loading times after you end your turn.

P.S. I also tried setting it on "Real time" but my PC unfortunately refused to do it...

    Have fun.

I'll try this the next time I play, hopefully it works and thanks for posting this!

This actually does help with the fps on campaign map a little. But along with the set affinity trick, both seem to degrade in effect overtime and needs to be constantly reset after 2-3 turns.

These are just stop gap measures. I OC'd my quad 2 core Q9550 from 2.83 to 3.4 and did everything I could think of including fpsbooster and installing dx from the folder itself, but seeing as how my battles are running pretty smooth in comparison (even that's not really optimized), I think it's the poorly optimized game in general, especially the campaign map.

I hope the forth coming patches fix some of these issues. Along with nvidia drivers.

Until than, it's alt tab and fiddle with task manager for the time being.

How would ram effect most campaign fps/stutter problems though its like purely CPU usage there isnt it?

Process Priority has no effect on RAM what so ever, and it should almost never make a difference. Really only if the system often has a lot of other programs working in the background all the time could it make a difference. The rest is placebo.

Nvidia, setup a Rome 2 profile on Nvidia experience. Optimize it and launch the game through Nvidia experience and see if that helps.I think drivers will come shortly. Nvidia also flamed CA for not giving them the game ahead of time to make the drivers needed. Good Job CA!!!!

Don't forget that you have to reset it on high every time you play Rome 2.

I'm not sure, but when I made Rome 2 high priority it did help on my laptop from 2010.

I think I have found the workaround for some of the campaign map lag and long turn times. Still far from perfect but has reduced my turn times by at least 60 seconds or so. I can see a more clear difference in early game. Late game the turns get longer due to all of the unit movements. For intel processors it involves disabling hyperthreading. Using a program call Bill2's process manager, you can also prevent the game from using hyperthreaded cores (or more than 4 cores for hexa and octo core processors).

Turning off Intel Possessor turbo boost worked for me. The game is working slower now but it doesn't crash anymore. Just press F2 (can be different with some systems) when starting up your PC and Turn off Processor Turbo Mode.
