I had same issue. make sure you have activated AA in game before running

Thanks Zorak. That did at least make it load again, but I remain unable to make any adjustments whatsoever. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Are there new directions on how to apply changes made in the Configurator?

Strongly agree with the choice to move in this section GEM. It's a true and deep modification (salvation) fo the RomeII's graphic. Looking forward to this new enhanced version with configurator. Thanks also to all the testers.

what I have been doing to get this version of gem to work is
Make sure AA in game is on
had to uncheck By-Pass UI
then when ever I made any changes - I hit save configuration then hit the reload Gem button (Pause Break)

FXAA, SMAA in Gem and in game AA turned off. Just using Nvidea antialiasing.

Hello

I have just installed the windoiws 7 6.1 version but cant locate gemsettings.txt anywhere. ITs not in ROME 2 not in DATA not in GEM. Nor can i find dxgi.dll to uninstall and reinstall. Any suggestions?

Install it first? If you use the beta version, you will need to use the configurator instead.

I just read a few pages back where you said we shouldn't use 6.1 as its going obsolete? So do i just use the beta? I did everything as stated in theinstructionsfor 6.1

If you want to be prepared for the next release it is better to use the beta.

Awesome. Thank you. Got the beta going. The only issues im having are shadows are flickering and only shader 3 available.

Neither had the time to play latley nor checked the forums too often but wow I see some big changes going on around here

First off congratz to the new version and being a hosted mod here now. I read through the last few pages and now want to test the beta too (screens looking awesome

).

But I have one question LH: you said we should delete all files from previous GEM versions (except gem.pack), which files are that? Sorry if this might be a stupid question or if you answered it already. I couldn't find the answer and I am not 100% sure which files to delete now
(I am still on 6.1).

Thx in advance and I will give you some feedback as soon as I have the beta running.

(I am still on 6.1).

Check the videos, especially for the eFX/Win8.1-compatible version, at the beginning of this thread. They'll show you which files to delete.

Just wasn't sure about the SweetFX stuff...and the dlls.

But what exactely am I doing wrong.
Searched the last 10 pages of this thread and I THINK I got all problems tackled (obviously not but okay

)

Delete all previous GEM files, not the .gem pack itself
Placed all files from the ZIP into my Rome 2 folder
Replaced the dxgi.dll with the one from the apart dxgi.zip file.
Installed the latest .Net Framework and c++ redist from your link (I ended up with installing them all lol)
Already have the latest directX installed
Activated AA in the game
Deactivated By-Pass UI
Got the EE Steam version
I have activated the GEMFX configurator
Don't use any overlay programm (as far as I know lol)

Result:
Doesn't work at all, not crashing just vanilla screen.
Can't find a log
In graphics only shader 3 is selectable (edit: when deactivating the activator I can select anything)

From what I can judge you are doing everything correct. What Windows do you use? Maybe try to install the vcredist (x86) too. And I would also install Net frameworks 4.5.1 (I only have this installed through windows-update and it works for me)
