Despite of my settings not working well on some nighttime scenarios and despite of AMD who abandoned the 7900 series, I'm pretty fine with GEM 5.4 even if I'm back from the huge settings I've shown you in the very very first time we meet and share my settings. I will try to force Gem with higher values after patch 14 if it will solve some bugs (I'm also encountering some artifacts lgiht bugs when I burn acampment's walls in some battle but I'm pretty sure it should not be a Gem problem)
Hello,
When I install/activate GEM, shaders 4&5 are disabled and I can only tick shader 3.
I have cheched and in preferences.txt gfx_enable_directx11 true.
I use GEM Steam with Windows 8. But until I this morning worked fine, I have had to format pc.
The vanilla game supports shader 5. (I have a GTX 650 2 GB).
Thanks.

Hi, I am new to the forums but a long time TW player,
I just installed this mod and it is working, however the UI is too bright and hurts my eyes.
What are the optimal settings for best possible quality, I have a monster rig so I will be able to run it.
Hi Guys, I need a bit of help, I've been using GEM for some time now with my GTX 560Ti and have had no issues at all, looks fantastic, however I went out last Monday and bought myself a GTX 780Ti, and I'm experiencing crashes when ever I load up a battle with GEM.
I've tried re-installing GEM and no luck, game works fine without it, was just wondering if the Mod was compatible with the new card.
That's interesting, I went from 560 Ti SLI to a Titan, nothing bad happened. How do other games perform?
I've loaded up Farcry 3 just for a look on full graphics, the only other game I've played is an Indy game called Rimworld, and doubt it would be much of a load on my card, I don't get a great deal of time to game during the week, the weekend is when the card will get flogged.
When the game first started crashing, I started by playing around with drivers, then I removed GEM, then I updated my Motherboard Bios, game became stable, I've re-installed GEM but the issues started again, without GEM the game seems stable.
One thing I have not done, all the changes that I need to make in the Nvidia control panel with GEM installed, are they mandatory or recommendations? because I did not redo that after installing GEM again after the bios update.
Edit. Scratch that, I re-installed GEM, went into the Nvidia control panel and made all the changes, worked fine on the campaign map, 1st battle and it crashed during the setup phase.
Removed GEM, loaded up the auto save, fought the battle through to the end, no problems, it's really got me stumped.

You might need to use the win8.1 version and not the steam version.
Check out the GEM_Settings.txt, there are a few values to change brightness.
I never heard of random crashes because of GEM. You might want to check the heat of your graphics card while playing.
Thanks Lucifer I have fixed it and 1000 thanks for your awesome mod. I love it.

I have had to install the
"DirectX End-User Runtimes (February 2010)"
“DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)”
In this order.
No worries mate, I'll give it a try.I never heard of random crashes because of GEM. You might want to check the heat of your graphics card while playing.
Oh lord, I've done something wrong. I played Rome II with GEM on and it was fine, then I went back and changed something in the GEM settings and now when ever I try to play Rome II it crashes on start up, black screen. Never experienced this before, unsubscribed every other mod besides GEM. When I look in the settings all the numbers seem fine and nothing looks out of place but I fear I may have done something in the settings.
Ok, now the weekend is here and my head to head opponent and I are back to war, I have found that the game is still crashing even with GEM uninstalled, so it looks as if it's the card, which after playing for 1-5 minutes in battle, crashes and reboots the system...
Put my old 560Ti back in and it's running without issue, thanks for the advice here and the PMs![]()
Hello everyone,
I just installed GEM and Aztec's Lighting mod. Regarding GEM, I use Drama's Dark European version and the battles look quite nice so far.
Thanks for all the hard work, it's very impressive!
However, there is one issue left. While the battles look awesome (the colours are much more vivid), my UI is very dark and a little bit green (at least that's what I would call it). Furthermore, one can see that it is flickering slightly. This made me think that it could be an issue with the antialiasing. Here are some pics:
FXAA turned on:
battle result
custom battle screen
battle UI
battle UI 2
FXAA turned off:
graphic options screen
battle UI and soldiers
As you can see, the antialiasing has a huge effect on my game's brigthness and the UI, I didn't change anything else. Is this intended? Is it a known issue?
I also use the Nvidia settings suggested at page 1, in case this helps.I got Win7 64-bit, an I5-4670K and a GTX 770.
If only the UI would change I would just turn the FXAA off, but unfortunately the whole game becomes much brighter. Using SMAA is the same by the way.
If there is anything else you would like to know, I will gladly provide you with more information. As I said, this is no grave issue, I am just curious as to what could cause this.
cheers,
DengoPhortis
Try going into the settings and changing the gamma and/or brightness. Tweaking this can give some interesting shifts in color and visuals. Reducing filmgrain may help too, not sure though. I play with filmgrain off and GBlur down just one notch to 0.09. (horizontal flares down about 50% as well but that probably wouldn't effect your issue at all). I also have a i5 4670k and gtx 770 btw so we can probably get something similar.
I was curious if anyone had any idea what the most taxing options are in GEM and sweet fx. I've managed to get 40 fps but I'd like to get more if I can tweak some of the settings to this end. I'm just not sure which are the biggest resource hogs. Gotta have SSAO though. =)

I was just toying around with my personal settings, and I came up with something I enjoy quite a bit. I thought I would share:
First, to Egypt, where the Romans have begun an extensive campaign against the Ptolemaic Empire:

This concludes my preview. I've attached my GEM and SweetFX settings if anyone is interested.

Also, I do use the latest version of Aztec Lighting (v3), found here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...N-2-beta-added, and my Gamma/Brightness settings are 22/12.
Thanks again to LuciferHawk for producing this gem of a GEM, and...
FIN
I really like this mod, but I need to uninstall it. What do I delete and is there any particular order?
Hello, I didn't understand this mod is compatipable with win8 x64? And should I change settings in nvidia contol panel? Thanks.
