The United Arab Emirates is a slave state. They run on Pakistani, Indian, and Afghan Slaves to keep their development running.

Besides that the UAE only allows foreigners to practice their religion, specifically rich Western foreigners. Natives, and people from Islamic Countries don't get the same rights.

If you want progressive Islamic Countries look at Jordan, Albania, Turkey (mostly), Indonesia (largest Muslim country by population), Palestinian Territories, and Lebanon (Mostly) (those are the ones who come to mind)

In Albania and Turkey the islamic state was destroyed (although as you hinted, Erdogan tries to rebuild it), Palestine has Hamas, and Indonesia has occasional erruptions of violence against religious minorities.

Hamas is more nationalist than Islamist, Indonesia has very little religious violence, though there is some antichinese violence

Lebanon had Christian majority . Last 30 years immigration doubled the population and shifted demographics .

/The number of Christians in Lebanon has been disputed for many years. There has been no official census in Lebanon since 1932
But official records confirm that in 1926 when the state of Lebanon was officially announced and recognised by the allies the Christians formed 84% of the population./

Yea, now Shia are a much larger percent of the population than it was in 1932. Which means their parliament, which has seats allocated by religious group, really doesn't reflect their current population.

And Emigration played as much of an impact in the shift as immigration. There are a lot of Lebanese Christians in the Americas (More Maronite live in the Americas than in Lebanon).

Indonesia has quite a number of fundamentalist Islamic factions, but they tend to get suppressed, since allowing them free rein hurts foreign investment. The Chinese that can afford it, have escape routes should tensions hit the boiling point again. Current targets are now Christians, and while the government is now more careful regarding anti Chinese communal feelings, looking over it's shoulder at Beijing, they allow discrimination against the Christians to persist.

SAA made a more or less orderly withdrawal from the base. ISIS has taken it over.

The British think Jihadi John, alias Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, was responsible for the beheading.

That US is quite stupid? If you really want to rescue your people back, just kidnap the enemies' guys and ask for exchange - some of them ought to have families, friends, or some beloved religious figures.

You can always win by being a worse than your enemy.

FSA is a Sunni organization funded by the Muslim Brotherhood, its political heads preside in Istanbul and are nothing more than puppets of this guy:

and they have a history of terrorizing unarmed civilians and executing prisoners while reciting quran verses and screaming Allahu Akbar
heck, they even do that in normal combat situations: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=388_1365846366

you can't convince anyone that they wouldn't be islamists

I was not allowed to post a video from the base here (because of dead jihadists I forgot). But that base seemed like just an airstrip in a plain of sand. I don't know what ISIS can do with it.

I hear Al Nusra has released an American hostage, probably with some financial encouragement from Qatar; may have decided that he was now a commodity too hot to handle.

A hip-hop jihadist . I have always despised the immigrant hip-hopers constantly whining , agressive ,obsessively unhappy with their lot in life and calling everyone for a racist , such righteous indignation though does not prevent them from hating Jews .
