Anyone else reading this post should read my one about why it might be better to go with Steam! This site is now the better option than either (Gamestop or Steam)!

You know, it might sound crazy, but I'm still getting my physical copy of Rome 2 and pay 60 Dollars plus taxes. It's a tradition for me. Total War games are the only games I still buy physical copies of. I just love that feeling of holding it in my hand and smelling its contents. God, I love that instruction manual smell.

Normally, I'd find stuff like that weird but honestly...I smelled my Rome Total War box the other day...and it smelt magical. Like a long lost time. I feel you brotha, I feel ya.

I don't disagree with either of you, I'm an old skool (middle aged) gamer and I love the experience of having a physical.

However, you can't resist the march of progress! I've just cancelled my Gamestop (physical copy) pre-order which would have cost me €45 and wouldn't have arrived until Tuesday lunchtime at the earliest!

In it's place, just 10 minutes ago I bought an Activation Key from Green Man Gaming for €43 (including a key for the Greek Culture Pack) and my Rome 2 pre-load is now 85% done.

Roll on 8am Tuesday morning. Think I'll get up around 7, make myself a nice cuppa joe, read some news on the Web, and then, around 8:30 (once the day 1 patch is installed) start my first campaign as the Romans!

Might break for lunch once I've conquered Italia!

It works alright mate, I clicked on the "Add A Game" option in the bottom left of Steam and chose the "Activate a Product on Steam" Option. This allowed me to enter my activation key and I now have Rome 2 pre-loaded in my Steam Library.

However, CA did say in there announcement earlier that Rome 2 would be region-locked in some territories (mainly Asian countries and Russia).

Whereabouts are you based (geographically)?

New home, hardly any internet till October. Still going to have to fork out the full $60 + tax, + greek pack = $70-80, at my local Future Shop (Canadian Best Buy), no discount for me, boo hoo wa wa.

And you know what? I will still enjoy every last dime I ever wasted...

Though, I might get the Greek Pack's. Every time a new Total War comes out since Napoleon, Future shop is carrying some kind of limited edition at the same price as the norm. Got me dem elite units for nap, Hattori for Shogun, and Saga for FOTS.

Hopefully I get the Greek States, or some super secret limited ed that noobody knows about that has BACTRIA!!!!!!!!!

I followed Teodosio's advice and I now have Rome 2 preloaded in my Steam Library, and it cost me less than it would if I'd bought it direct from Steam (@ €55) or from Gamestop (@ €45)!

Win win situation as far as I'm concerned!

Money is money. And I just bought Rome 2 for $47, therefore that just freed up roughly $15 for me to spend on more beer.

Keys worked great, preloaded Rome 2 (w/ Greek States DLC) in about an hour and now I am ready to go come Sept 3.

Im not in the habit of putting my cc in on random sites I have not heard of. Not saying they arnt legit, but I know nothing of their security.
