    Icon1 Europe 270 BC II

    EUROPE 270 BC II

A campaign mod for Rome Total War, version 1.5/ 1.6

    FEATURES:

Europe 270 BC II simply includes everything which I added to the mod since the last versions release. My concept for the mod was vanilla Rtw gameplay but with more historical textures for the units and a more natural looking landscape. There are only some minor changes to the games sytem but alot to the visual expierience of playing Rome Total War.

    • Very large campaign map with a close to reality earth surface.
    • New textures for the Campaign and Battlemap.
    • New skins for all factions and many new custom models and units.
    • Custom celtic ruins and farms, my "roman fort mod".
    • Historical Earthquakes, tsunami and Vulcan erruptions.
    • 195 Regions.
    • Complete set of new grass textures.
    • Custom Sky and Weather.
    • My version of customised skydome.txt, daytypes.txt,vegetation.txt, geography.db.
    • RSII environment. ( also the vegetation is from the RSII environment addon, landscape textures and coloration is very different to RS II )

    INSTALLATION:

Use a clean installation of Rome total war 1.5 / 1.6 or a copy of a unchanged installation to a folder of your choice.
Add the files of the mod to the Rtw folder, allow overwriting of all default files.

    "two in one"
There is also the Europe 270 BC provincial campaign included, to play the provincial campaign you have to use a shortcut with -mod:europa270bc option.

Details about the differences of the main and provincial campaign map:

The map of the provincial campaign is made with a max_land_height 7511.272 value and the coastlines edited to look good with the value.
The map of the main campaign is made with a max_land_height 8527.272 and the coastlines edited to look good with the higher value.

The RS2 environment has no subarktic climate and used it as a second variation of the semiarid climate. In Europe 270bc II, there is again a subarctic vegetation with dense forest.
The main campaign map has some regions of subarctic forest south of the true subarctic zone, in higher altitudes and east of the river rhine. (Teuteburg forest for example)
The provincial campaign map has only the default RS2 deep forest in those areas and subarctic forest only in the subarctic climate zone.

Good looking mod, but it would be nice if the reskinned units could have UI's to go with them

The new generation of artists here at TWC released so incredible fine work and therefore i was anyway in doubt about publishing my old humble stuff. But i made it also for the community and i hope some of you have fun with it.

Ahowl11, if you like, create those UI graphics and we release it as a patch.

Excellent update of your campaign mod, sir Webbird...really nice work, it may be old work (in your opinion), but it seems new (and very good in my opinion).

My thanks to all of you!

luzvimindo, the provincial campaign is not different to the main campaign except some features of the climate map (no subarctic forest in germania magna for those who dont like the idea)
If you like to play it, please follow the instructions in the readme for creating a shortcut for that version of europe 270 bc. if you have still problems, just let me know.

Basileos, when I included the RS2 environment to Europe 270 BC, there where so much files overwriting the default files that i decided to place everything into the main directory. I am not sure how good it works when all is completely mod foldered.

I thought the baby is finished but i am somehow addicted from editing descr_geography.db, again i changed some shades of green here and there stay tuned for a little "cosmetic-patch".
i will post it here as attachment...

If none finds any problems and all works fine, i will include all minor little visual tweaks in a new patch and update the major download of the mod in some days. Thank you!

Web I think the only thing missing is a legionary Aqulia standard officer for the first legionary cohort as that unit looks extra cool with an actual eagle with it.

Above, bellow the download links, I added a small patch.
The files change the visuals of the semiarid, deep forest and temperate grassland climate.

If you would know how many times i felt pleased with the color settings of the mod and how many times i changed everything again after a week because something looked wrong at that day, you would surely call me mad. For a long time i worked on the daytime and sky settings, thought i am finished in january 2013.
I created a custom battle file for temp. grasland summer on day 272, created a custom battle for each of the 24 hours to check the settings. And discovered that the time of sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moonset changes with every day of the year. Btw. also the moon position changes at rise/set.
Visible sunlight after 19:00 or 20:00 has a big influence on the sky lighting and coloration! And any difference of the values of 0:00 and 21:00 /22:00 produces weird effects/ errors of coloration, when your battle takes place at a sunset , later then your "night settings", on one of those days. Btw. in OPTIONS you find a new texture for the moon.

Example of temperate dense forest. Better melting of grass colors with ground textures colors

Example Drakolimni in northwestern Greece Epirus region and my settings of semiarid summer.

Pictures which I made while on holydays in Cornwall, ( this one was made at the river Camel, Cornwall) blessed me with the right material for some of my grass textures.

Tom, open the file preferences.txt, look for the line: MINIMAL_UI:TRUE and change to MINIMAL_UI:FALSE . Sorry!

    Jackwei, i agree! letīs see...

The rapidshare link is broken! And the other download link is problematic too because when i download it , it doesn't load! It says the file contains invalid data!
