Leonard would have been a great Gandalf; what a lost opportunity.
Probably the Internet would have xploded with Bilbo Baggins jokes.
LOL!
Made my day.
I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.
Another good one from a cappella vocalist Peter Hollens released yesterday...

Finnish group Battlelore has most of their songs about Tolkien, if not the sounds of Middle-Earth, certainly feel of it, if you like cavalry charges. Not something one would like to hear as soundtrack, though..

Hmmm....
Perhaps some of these pieces might be inspiration fro adding a greater variety of LOTR music to the mod?
It's music that makes a game (or mod).
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

You know, a copyright isn't necessarily a dead end for getting music in something like a mod, right?
Most copyrights have a provision where you can write the content owner, and ask for written permission to use the music, etc. If you explain it's for non-commercial use, for something no money is being made off, and emphasize how it will serve to enhance the popularity of their music; you'll find some copyright owners can be surprisingly forthcoming/generous with something like this.
Just an idea...

Just to be clear. All the new music in the mod, and that will be in the mod, is used with permission from the owners. We do not use music from the movies or other high-profile themes because 1. we are not likely to get permission, 2. we avoid any connection with the movies (the mod is based on the books), and 3. we strive to be original. As for variety, we have plenty already - there are 227 musical pieces/excerpts in the Dominion of Men music folder composed by 15+ artists.

I'm just going to throw in my two cents here with perhaps one of my favorite LOTR pieces, by the way:

I know it's from the films, and as such probably isn't going to get the best reception here, BUT, it's still one of my favorite pieces...

Ack, looks like I needed to format that differently:

P.S. Is there a way to edit my previous posts on here? I'm used to seeing an "Edit" button on most forums I post in, but I don't see one here... Maybe it's just disabled until I make a certain # of posts or something, like signatures, though...

You need to have posted about 50 times before you can edit your posts.

Ahh, I see.
I don't quite understand why that is, but I guess I'll have to get a lot more active on here!
Actually, I've been a member of this forum for many, many years- but I'm only now becoming active, ironically. I mostly stock to some of the other Total War forums in the past (under slightly different usernames) that have now become unused/obsolete...
Were you guys able to hear the music, by the way? I was having some trouble viewing it myself when I posted it here...
Regards,
Northstar
I've edited your post so that the youtube video is functioning.
