roman swordsmen
The Roman field army relied on its heavily armed comitatenses to cut down the enemy, much like Caesar legions of the past. However the Romans soon realised that they needed a lightly armoured unit that was cheep to train and equip to back the comitatenses up in the field. This led to the creation of the roman swordsmen, these troops were armed with poor quality chain mail armour usually poorly maintained and rusted and blunt swords and thin helmets. These troops where easy and quick to train and where used on the front line of a field army to absorb cavalry charges and enemy artillery so the comitatenses can then cut the enemy down.
gothic spearmen (east roman empire)
The Romans always hated the culture of the barbarians, however they where all to willing to import foreign fighting methods into their own if they felt it was effective, this lead to the creation of gothic spearmen. Recruited from the eastern empires boarder with the Goths the gothic spearmen are heavily armed spearmen that are trained to form a shield wall, they are a great defensive force and good against cavalry but they lack the commitment and dedication of the main roman army and are venerable to artillery.
Gothic Spearman (goths)
These men are very disciplined for barbarian standards, they are given basic armour but a large shield and spear and are trained to stand in a shield wall, they are best at holding the lines and facing chivalry charge but are vulnerable to heavy infantry and archers.
Hunn Warriors
Being a nomad is a hard and difficult life, the weak are left behind to die and the strong become warriors! These warriors have some of the best equipment available to the Huns and are more then a match for any of the more civilized warriors.
Norman Headhunter
Norman headhunters are a foe you do not want to meet, the are lightly armoured but their big axes make them great for breaking enemy lines. They keep the heads of their enemies as “souvenirs” of past victories and acts of bravery, this is quite un-nerving for an enemy as that head could have been someone they once knew.
GermanoFrankish Axemen
One of the basic and most common units of the franks, reasonable well armoured with heavy weapons, best for hacking at the enemies front line, these men are not peasants per say but they are not nobles. They have enough money to afford decent weaponry
Vandal Axemen
When the call for arms is sounded these peasants, farmers or smiths will drop their tools, pick up their axe be given some basic training and then thrust into the battle lines to absorb enemy chivalry, archers and infantry. They will weaken them up so the more noble worriers can finish them off and take the glory!
Late Vandal Chosen Warriors
These are full time professional solders, they are the best of the crop given the best training, armour and weapons in direct service of the king, best at taking on the enemies best infantry they can be used a shock infantry or defence and they do ether role very well! Trained to be warriors from early childhood these solider are some of the best available for the Vandals.
Cavalry Alemanni Horde
The Horde moves like a swarm of locusts across the land plundering and pillaging as they go they travel on horse back and carry everything they need to fight and live on their horse, they lack discipline and organization but use numbers to crush the enemy and are a terrifying sight to behold.
Warlord Bodyguarde Vandals
The most loyal subjects to the king, and the bravest trained from boyhood they are elite and some of the best-equipped soldiers in the vandal horde. Their role is to defend the king and to carry his standard in battle. They tend to only be used in the last moment and can sway a battle in the Vandals favour.
Slavs Tribal Haymakers
Being a farmer is hard, backbreaking labour and when someone threatens your lands, your crop even your cattle there is only one thing you can do, fight! These men have no armour or training and their only form of defence? A small wooden shield. However they carry their scythe, which is a deadly weapon and can take the heads of enemies
Quaddi Wild Warrior
Wild men, they are brave and to be respected! They do not believe in armour, they rely on their gods to be their protector. Before every battle they beat themselves up into a frenzy of blood lust and will charge at the enemy no matter how many and no matter if anyone tells them!
Berber Horde Infantry
The Horde moves like a swarm of locusts across the land plundering and pillaging as they go they travel on horse back and carry everything they need to fight and live on their horse. These men are lightly armoured, due to the hot conditions they lived in and are the basic Berber horde infantry.
Sasanid Heavy Horde Infantry

These sassanid warriors have some of the best weapons and training in the world they are heavily armed and good against other heavy infantry they also have brilliant moral.
East Horde Cavalry

Reasonable well armed and in large numbers these warriors are a terrifying and wonderers sight to behold and use numbers to crush the enemy.
