apologies for being a snub from the bat, but why do we want the Harbor of Theodosius? it's probably locked with chains, and after breaching those they'll be wooden fish in a stone barrel. Even if the traffic jams and the constant rain of fire don't kill them, they'll have to fight their way through half the city to get to the forum Bovis, since it appears to be the only crossing of the inner-city Lykos. So the first objective of those attacking the Julian harbor would be to get to the forum to free the road, even though they attack a smaller and better defended harbor.

The attack on the harbor of Theodosius could be a diversionary one perhaps. If they can draw away any of the Byzantine defenders from the walls, then it would help the other forces take the city. Also, if the Byzantines do fail to place enough soldiers there, then the Venetians may have easy access to the city by crushing whatever defenders the Byzantines do place and then being able to sweep in and attack the rear of the other Byzantine troops. Either way, the attack should serve its purpose.

I don’t think we need to worry about the chains defending the harbor. In several of the texts that I have at home that are about the siege of Constantinople, the Venetians actually planned for something like this. They had several large round ships purposely constructed so that they had reinforced hulls and prows that were solely meant to be used to break any chains that defended a harbor.

Also, in those same texts, it states that the Venetians had constructed their ships to be suitable for a naval landing of men so that factor should help them take the harbor, hopefully.

Must have been a good reason why the Venetians stormed the harbour I assume there was a lot of trade goods in the warehouses there, and I'm pretty sure the assault did divert a lot of Varangians to the sea walls

The ballista towers and artillery should be represented somehow. Plus the Varangians used missiles to push away the earlier assaults as well as being the main resistance cited in the historical accounts for the April defences. The Venetians took heavy losses trying to mount the sea-walls because the Varangians had diverted some of their number from the main defence to fend them off.

I think he is making an unhistorical one, Gandalf. Doesn't say anywhere that his House ruled England. It could be a House that had once ruled the County or the Duchy of Lancaster, but the son gave up those titles for money in order to go forth on the Crusade

I assumed because he 1) used the royal coat of arms and 2) his mother was an English princess. I was making sure just in case he actually wanted to be part of the current English ruling house.

Well since she was casted out of the ruling house, it would make sense since that would mean any of her children were exempted from succession. So perhaps the family settled in Lancaster and thus changed to their house name to it.

Zhao Yun. Thats his armor set/portrait for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. That series is more like turn based strategy games with a couple that are you play a single character and go on to become like a King, gain fame, etc etc (like a roleplay!) Much different than the hack-and-slash of Dynasty Warriors. Romance of the Three Kingdoms video game series is amazing though.
