LM's devising a 'fake camp' strategy that will hopefully confuse the Byzantine NPC's into amassing their defense at the Golden Gate in the Southwest.

    Order of Attack:

    I. Venetian Assault: 10,000 marines, 180 ships - Harbor of Theodosius

II. Lycus Assault: 11,000 (Bohemond, Simon de Provence, Athelstan, Tancred and Ricco)
II. Blachernae Assault: 5,200 (Arvid, Roger, Simon di Napoli)

    III. Philip's Attack: 1,700 - 2,300 , 20-30 Ships (Philip, Cristoforo and Orsini)
    Hopefully a surprise attack

This is the current plan so far, as I understand.
Is everyone on the same page?

Pending acceptance of my "Varangian plot" I would plan to sneak into the cracks in the sea walls during the Venetian assault and hook up with any defecting Varangians, charging my forces along the Severus Walls to offer archery support and secure the gates at the Mese near Constantine's forum to let Philip's force through to attack the main city from the east to pincer as the main force tries to breach the second (Constantine Wall)

You're currently asked to attack Lycus with the bulk of the forces, but you can always just go maverick.

I can already see someone going all rogue on this and it either being really good or a total ****storm.

That's the beauty of it I suppose.

It would be ultimately interesting if we actually fail to take the city in this assault.
    Who knows what will happen.

Here's a more awesome battle plan map.
    It really shows everything better.

    I. Venetian Assault: 10,000 marines, 180 ships - Harbor of Theodosius

II. Lycus Assault: 11,000 (Bohemond, Simon de Provence, Athelstan, Tancred and Ricco)
II. Blachernae Assault: 5,200 (Arvid, Roger, Simon di Napoli)

    III. Philip's Attack: 1,700 - 2,300 , 20-30 Ships (Philip, Cristoforo and Orsini)
    Hopefully a surprise attack

    I like making maps.
    What can I say?

Also, look at all the traffic!
I hope the front page ad helps this game and the section.

Will be interesting to see if the mods open up limited slots for different factions such as Muslims or Greeks

Well, I think now Venetians in the fleet (the currently NPC-ed Venetians) should be allowed, as long as they join the player faction in some way later (the Latin Empire).
Greek characters that do not hold titles under foreign rulers have always been playable, but not advised.
Just take M_1512's recently signed-up Greek character for example.

But yeah, I'm trying to think of ways to be more accommodating now. A lot of people like Byzantines.

I suppose they could flee to Bulgaria or something

    Who? Greek Players? Dunno.
The game is about Crusaders taking over Greece though. It's counter-productive to allow the game to defeat it's own purpose.

Though I suppose it would be interesting to see if some players took over Nicaea as an opposite faction, making a dualistic game

Maybe it's time to test that theory.

Or not. Let's see what even happens in the next 48 hours.
    I'm hoping for 10 sign-ups, ideally.

apologies for being a snub from the bat, but why do we want the Harbor of Theodosius? it's probably locked with chains, and after breaching those they'll be wooden fish in a stone barrel. Even if the traffic jams and the constant rain of fire don't kill them, they'll have to fight their way through half the city to get to the forum Bovis, since it appears to be the only crossing of the inner-city Lykos. So the first objective of those attacking the Julian harbor would be to get to the forum to free the road, even though they attack a smaller and better defended harbor.

It's a three point attack so hopefully there won't be many men in the harbour anyway.
