    Here a small tool to convert dds files into whatever you want ! You can now convert it f.e into a bmp make changes with Paint f.e andthen convert them back into dds . very nice tool
    (A must for skinners that use Paint shop pro )

    Well when converting to BMP you'll lose your alpha layers. In any case you should have those in the texture.

    It doesn't work in Windows 7 x64. The Convert button is disabled, no matter if I run it on compatibility mode.

    Yeah, great! And I was wondering what was going on.
    So, what to do now?
    I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.

    Use GIMP (With DDS plugin, think we don't need that anymore in latest versions iirc) to open DDS files and save them in any format like .tga, .png etc.

    I prefer Paint.Net to be honest, no plugin needed, and slightly more lightweight.

    I use PS so i really don't know these freewares well in comparison\performace but IrfanView\Paint.Net\GIMP etc are basically all the same to me.
