Default Some handy campaign map overviews

    Hello there,

After my complete faction list, mercenary list and ultimate faction overview, I return once again with some handy campaign map overviews made with the interactive campaign map. It gives you the feeling of were the major fighting will be, and what provinces you want to claim. Hope you find it usefull.

    Resources Map

Normal Resources are shown in blue/gray, wonders are in red. This shows that the resources are very evenly stretched over the entire campaign map. However, wonders appear in certain concentrations. In the area of Egypt, Parthia and Greece are a lot of wonders which could provide great bonusses to the factions close by. This map also shows that Egypt has indeed a very good location, starting with 2 wonders, a lot of resources and another wonder nearby. I should say that in my opinion the barbarians near Gernany should deserve some more wonders.

    Mercenary Map

This map shows the size of provinces which contain the same mercenaries. The colors are random, each blob shows a mercenary group. This gives us a good feeling of the number and locations of mercenary units. In my opinion the mercenaries are extremely well done in Rome 2.

    War map

Every region colored in red is at war with another faction. This shows us were the action will start off most of the time. As you can see the barbarians are already in quit a lot of wars. In modern Germany and France, most of the faction start of at war. If we look at the east of the map things change drastically. There is almost no war at all in the beginning in Arabia and close to Parthia. Seems like we see Barbarian heads rolling first, easterlings will come next.

    Alliances

This map shows all the regions that are allied with another. As you can see, not many factions start of with an ally, and if they do, it is most of the time a playable faction. We do have a lot of alliances in modern France and Spain. AN example is the alliance between the Helveti, the Nori and the Raeti which could cause some trouble to expanding players. Once again, in the east, there is not much going on. Most of the factions start out neutral or as vassals there. North Africa? Nothing at all.

Playable faction + Seleucid Empire with all their allies and vassals

This maps shows all the playable factions + the Seleucid Empire as one blob with all their vassals and alies. Shows how powerfull the Seleucids are...

Hope you enjoyed this and found anything usefull.

Looking at this map... It came to my mind this question: Was Stonehenge actually famous in the ancient world?

If I have to believe some websites the function of Stonehenge in Roman times isn't known. But people found things like Roman coins there, so the Romans were there.

There's no doubt the romans were there. What I am asking is if the stonehenge was actually a famous site people spoke about along the ancient world, just as they were marveled by the Pyramids or the Colossus of Rhodes.

Hmm. I liked the Seleucid Empire part. It shows exactly why they did not make them a playable faction.
