Maybe that is a part of a greater demo that will be released somewhere in August after they are nearly finished with the balancing of the gameplay.
Hmm, no I'd say that this confirms no beta nor demo before release.

Q: Will there be a BETA or demo for ROME II before release?

    There will not be, no.

Ha, I honestly believed that his Q&A concerned only the Beta part of this issue. Well, I guess that kills any speculation.
I bet that the reason they did not made a demo is because they are already behind with balancing the game. At E3 they avoided saying if the game was in a beta stage or not, even if they are down to the part of tweaking its features.

Damn, I was looking forward to playing a Rome 2 demo until they released the full game.

Oh well, back to Shogun 2 I suppose.

Many people who play Empire, say that you can't play it properly without darthmod.

I've not tried it myself, but it is what a lot of people have said.

The demo needs to be a finished product. Even the Battle of the Nile demo was only an early beta.

    Be patient, guys.

I think he meant that the demo was modded so that actual battles could be played...

At E3 they said they're approaching the beta stage. CA did not avoid saying it. They're late alpha period now (as of last week) where they're still testing stuff (not adding since the game is locked). Beta is where the release candidate is complete so that they can iron out the bugs which probably throughout whole of July before sending the game to be disk packed in August.

Actual game development alpha/beta status is certainly very different from mods alpha/beta status where new features can be added one day before release.

because some studies have shown games with pre-release demo's sell less? Definitely saw that somewhere although it was about console games it may well apply to PC games also.

But yes it would be lovely to receive a demo of this game, although it ain't gonna happen

They most likely had a restricted Demo they used for Rezzed. There are many reasons not releasing it to the public, maybe the code isn't secure or restricted features can sorta be nudged loss to be explored.

For the CC3 demo back in the day you were only supposed to beable to play GDI but people learnt how to unlock Nod and a new faction Scrin? Which means we found out there were a third faction in the game and it was alien(Even if not playable in the demo).

Publicity wise it doesn't seem like a great idea either considering the response they have gotten so far they might now want the whole product being judged based on some separate piece of Alpha code.

many people bought the first RTW after playing the battle of Trebia............I think this decision will be counterproductive for Sega & CA
