    Default E3 Video Interview Comments?

Ok begin to comment on the Video interview at E3 ?

Rome II has been showed on E3 where we can see both campaign map and in-game battles. What did you think about the demo?

    My opinion:
    • Unrealistic instant ship crack
    • Flying men all around on tramples, on schythed , on balls, on projectiles , on everything ... -_- ...
    • Most ugly UI cards ever to date
    • Capture points on battlefiedld look totally arcade
    • Small units
    • Overexagerated Cities dimensions
    • Most of the coasts are unaccessible cliffs
    • Barbarian Lupfurgium Walled city yes . Syracuse, Jerusalem , Rhodes, etc No .
    • And what's with the Army Gen Speen Running transform into a horse?
    • Also what's wrong with the map names?
    • Apart that some provinces are totally made up and others completely removed ... but
    [*]Negro Legionaries

[*]Also come on Are we really supposed to study , learn and memorize all the freak Geroglyphs that CA decided to serve us ?

Symbolic Squares and card UI Geroglyphs ???
Why make this absurd Iconic nonsense???

    [*]Wrong names of the map

Sarmetia? ( should be Sarmatia )
Libue? ( should be Libya )
Provincia? ( should be Narbonensis )
Bosporus? ( should be Bosphorus )
Aegyptos? ( should be Aegyptus )
Then Magna graecia and then Hellas ? ( should be Achaia )
Chromasmia? ( Should be Chorasmia )

Was their mapper Drunk or what?

What did you like about it? What did you see that looked good/bad?

I am kind of iffy on the whole general on the campaign map charging on a horse to the enemy and the battle scenes still felt like sohgun 2 was unfolding in front of my eyes.

    your thoughts?

Default My opinion after watching the Gamespot livestream of Rome 2

After watching the Gamespot coverage of Rome 2, I am utterly amazed. That doesn't mean i have some gripes, but I was blown away. Campaign map is epic, graphics are awesome, and I might eventually get used to the unit cards. Though something I found unrealistic is how many men were thrown when the ballistae hit.

He wasn't a douche but he asked too many questions that fans would have already known.
And whoever decided to list the Rome 2 coverage as lasting twenty minutes when it only lasted ten should be punched in the groin.

    1. Capture points really do look "video game-y"2. The interviewer was a total douche, he seems liked he was bored, or doing us a favor by conducting the interview.3. Battle animations still look rough (check out the elephants attacking the romans) and dont you dare say pre-alpha.4. Obviously this wasnt a grand campaign battle, this was a historic battle (as mentioned). The player on the campaign map attacks as the romans, yet in the battle we see him playing as the Egyptians. This is important cause this is just another scripted battle, so dont expect to see that kind of terrain or tactics in the grand campaign.5. Unit cards are confusing looking, hard to distinguish quickly, even though they are original (but not everything original is good).6. Rome 2 still has the horrendous shadows (excessively dark textures on units) at certain angles.7. Everything was really quick, hard to really tell how the game really looks and feels (more importantly).8. 3 months to launch? this is it? I remember waiting for Medieval 2 and being much more convinced that this back in 2006. Come on CA, bring it!9. Ships and unit textures look good. Geometry looks decent.

The interviewer had just come back from playing the siege of shanghai (u can see it on gameplay). so basically he was like "wow i played this great shooter, now i have to check out this pc strategy game no one cares about". Stupid son of a *********.

siege of shanghai ---> battlefield 4.

The good: expanding cities in the campaign map; the interface that allows you to control navies and armies at the same time
The bad: arcade elements in the battle.
The ugly: the way as armies move in the campaign map.

It's kinda hard to judge it as a whole because it was just a mix of random footage from different parts of the battle.

I think almost everything looked good, i'll point out some extra nice things and some bad things

+Dat ramming critical hit (go away with your realism)
+Chariots - ok, they may be a bit too deadly but consider this: they are charging, downhill, into a moving formation of men. That's like optimal circumstances. Also remember that chariots are one-trick ponies: if they fail with the charge, they are screwed. And chariots aren't exactly cheap.
    +HUGE ballistae
    +The rowers chant, that's a nice touch
+The way cities grow on the map is just awesome

-First of all the stream wasn't good. I hope the full footage will be available at 1080p because this obviously was not (yes i was using HD)
-Ballistae are waaaaaay too powerful. Balancing and stuff like that are probably among the last things they do, but i'd prefer not to have howitzers in my ancient era game. HOWEVER those ballistae look like some kind of "mega-ultra-expensive-as-hell" things - they might reload very very slowly to compensate. We can't really know.
-Ships get stuck in other ships that are already sunk
-I wanted to see more elephants
-It occasionally looks a bit "stale", i mean it's never going to flow as well or look as good as an RPG/RTS but still.

@rudthemighty: This could certainly be a campaign battle (i mean it'll look exactly like this on the campaign map aswell). The CA guys confirmed that if you have a battle in Teutoburg forest, it will look like the historical battle they showed (without the dialogue and scripting, ofcourse). So there's nothing stopping you from making this battle in the campaign map aswell - ofcourse it would be stuid if you were the romans to attack the egyptians in that way, but hey.

I like how not every ramming attack triggers the complete destruction of the targeted ship. Has me in high hopes for epic boarding actions.

Other than the gigantic ballista that were totally OP, the game looks amazing! I can't wait!

One thing at the end of the Interview he asked about MP and he said something about up to 4 players in MP so I don't really understand what he means by this??? Does it mean only 4 players in MP Battles or is he speaking about MPC???? Because its suppose to be where you can get up to 8 players in MP battles. So im a bit confused on this.
