Thread: Expanded Japan (97 new regions, 101 new factions)

  1. #181

Default Re: Expanded Japan mod (39 new regions, 31 new factions)

I was able to get the attachments to load, so I saved them to my hard drive and will be able to access them even if this website goes down.

In the vanilla version 50 of the 65 regions had towns (81%); though some of these towns now belong to the new regions. At present I have 73 towns and 148 regions (49%), however many of these regions are much smaller than the regions in the vanilla version. Would you like me to upload a version of the map so you can see where the towns and ports are located?

Good im glad I wont have to try and post that again -- down to business with the towns per region.....ill keep it roughly same at 81%. What about region specialties? I got one example off top of my head... Aso --- holy site? Ill just go ahead and see what I find. If you need a port or anything in a certain area tell me whos spose to live around there and location, ill get it done --

Are there any ports that can be added to Southern Kii (Horiuchi) or north Hizen (Matsuura)?

Regarding towns I recommend researching the larger regions first as I may not have room to add them to the smaller regions.

Can you give me some information regarding what sort of town I should add to these regions. If a region isn't listed it's because I already gave it a town, is too small to fit a town into, or I was able to give it a town (all regions with ports got a naval towns).

The types of town are as follows:
    SHO_region_specialty_artisans [make bows or paper]
SHO_region_specialty_gold_mining [increased region wealth; only use in regions where they mined gold]
SHO_region_specialty_holy_site [better monks; only use in regions where they had shrines or temples (the name of the shrine/temple would also be useful)]
SHO_region_specialty_horses [resource improved horses; only use in regions where they trained horses]
SHO_region_specialty_iron_mining [resource iron; only use in regions where they mined iron]
SHO_region_specialty_naval_tradition [better ships; effectively useless in regions without a port]
    SHO_region_specialty_ninja [better ninjas]
SHO_region_specialty_philosophical_tradition [better Metsuke, can become a library or court]
SHO_region_specialty_prime_forest [resource timber; only use in regions where they have trees]
    SHO_region_specialty_smithing [better armour or weapons]
SHO_region_specialty_stone [resource stone; only use in regions where they mined stone]

If you can't find anything for a town I can make it a forest or stone town if there's a forest or mountain in this region.

    Nice work so far!

It would be great though, if you could make it compatible with one of the "Extended/Prolonged Campaign" or "More Turns per Year" Mods.

Stincky is there a town I can add to Owari (Oda faction). I feel I should give them a town but I don't know what sort.

I can't make this mod compatible with the "Extended/Prolonged Campaign" or "More Turns per Year" mods because they both use a modified startpos.esf. Since I can't make my mod without remaking the startpos there's no way to make them compatible.

The mod already has the 12 turns per year campaign included.

Perhaps you can give them additional province at last for the expanse of some historical neighbouring allied/vassal clan? The AI Oda really can't survive all those multiply enemies even the first year.

Btw, perhaps you can add additional unit or two for the major clans starting armies? Or may be even a hero (considering clans "specialisation"), like matchlock hero for Oda, Great Guard for Takeda, monk hero for Uesugi etc. Considering that you are going to expand your Expanded Japan even further, I think something should be done in that regard as without major participants of Sengoku the game would be somewhat blank.

Kiyosue -- After the loss of Orizu Castle, Oda Nobuhide shifted his seat to Kiyosu, bringing prosperity to the city, from which he ruled the four counties of lower Owari Province. Oda should have Shibata as a vassal and possibly Hachisuka if you need Oda to have a bit more power or if not leave Hachisuka as a neutral.

All im finding is it says its a post town around Kiyosue...so if you could make the roads at a higher level to start? that'd be an advantage-- but not much else...anyone else creative thought / idea?

May be we can add "artisans" town to Owari to simulate local ceramics industry of the later Edo period (well, "artisans" produces only bows or paper in game, but still): "The castle town of Nagoya prospered during this period, and Owari Province was especially known for its ceramics industry."

Another option could be a holy site as there are Owari Onkunitama Jinja (shrine) and the Kokubunji-Kokubu monastery in Inazawa, one of the most ancient in Japan (the 8th century):
    http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%B0%...88%86%E5%AF%BA

Also Setsuyoshu mentions Owari among the agriculturally fertile lands: 易林本の『節用集』によると尾張国は肥沃(地厚土肥)な大上国と記されており、その富裕な農業生産力や畿内への地理的な近さを背景にして朝廷を支えていた。
So perhaps, a better starting farms (level 2) could make sense?

This sounds like an interesting idea, may be giving them some place near Nagasaki as historical Hirado. But I doubt that this is possible because of game engineer (things like technologies, daimyo and family characters/names/pictures etc).

Noticed in the latest two campaigns that the naval trade is almost impossible in the mod. AI tends to cancel every new trade pact (through the sea) literary the next turn, the most lucky agreements could not survive even a dozen turns. I do not know if this is related to some issue with newly established sea trade routes on new map, new number of turns per year or something else.

Hirado wasn't there yet 1590's or something close to that...we're trying to represent that as Matsuura -- there was a port and castle prior to it being called Hirado.
