The Sassanids are progressing well. I haven't forgot that I need to scan you all the Sassanids units I have on Ancient Warfare. Maybe today I will began before you finish all the textures and models. By the way, do we intend to include Camels and Elephants units. Cheers

Cool screenshots! Albeit I don't understand the Furs on the Barbarians - they wore Tunics and Military Cloaks you know.

I think that "barbarian" unit is borrowed from the Rusichi mod. I could be mistaken, however. Although regardsless I'm sure that not all wore military cloaks and tunics, maybe he was a poor bumpkin from the mountains and it was his first battle and he hasn't won enough booty yet to buy proper military attire. Just sayin'.

“The hardest thing in the world is to assume the mood of a warrior. It is of no use to be sad and complain and feel justified in doing so, believing that someone is always doing something to us. Nobody is doing anything to anybody, much less to a warrior.” ― Don Juan
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." -- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Are you serious? Judging from a preview (custom battle?) screenshot of a unit (and probably the terrain) in general order? Factions? Campaign?

    So 'barbaric' units always wear
    Tunics and Military Cloaks
    but never furs???

    rofl - please stop this!

I'm near of his mind, Aethelstan
This is maybe a judgment caused by the so-much represented furs in reenactment.. on each barbarian, you MUST have almost 80cm² of furs.. this is a bit borring, specially for combat-times^^

I know it's a preview, I mod myself. I'm just wondering as to the high usage of furs - yes, we know they were used in some military units as a custom, and one find of a bearskin suggests they continued the tradition of standard bearers wearing furs. However, other than that the wearing of furs wasn't all that common. We find none in most 5th and 6th century graves (albeit the leather doesn't survive so neither would a fur.)

But we find very few furs in bog finds either.

I'm not saying they weren't worn, I'm saying Furs were more traditional pieces by the time of the Barbarian Successor States of Odoacer and Euric and whatnot.

That post it much more detailed and distinguished Magister - now its a good one and I can agree with you and rhalina that furs shouldnt make the main part of clothes in a unit.

Just ... "dont understand the furs ... they wore Tunics and Military Cloaks you know" was no constructive and to be seriously taken input.

    Thanks and cheers!
