Rally Point Episode 12: The Ninth Faction Revealed!

As you may have noticed, we have officially revealed the mystery behind the 9th faction icon on the Total War Wiki. Despite some efforts to interpret the symbol as a rune, or some arcane font, that icon actually represented our web show Rally Point. It meant that – yes – Rally Point had the exclusive news on what that 9th faction would be.

We’ve locked down the content for the game now and have started the long road to fixing and optimising the game before it gets manufactured to disc. However, thanks to the way we use Steam, we can make sure that everyone gets some day one DLC for free in the form of a playable Faction – Pontus.

Not only can we spend more time on content after the game goes off to get printed – but Steam means everyone will get it when you install the game .We have the full low-down and scoop on Pontus in Rally Point 12, including the first screenshot and a nice chat with campaign designer Dom Starr about the faction’s ins and outs.

That is a good news. Even if I would have preferred Seleucids, Pontus is also a good faction. I suppose Seleucids will be avaible later.

Since this is clearly showed and publicized as a free-lc it looks like a loked out content that make presupose the exhistance of other locked out from the game content

Don't get too hung up on it. If they called it a Day 1 patch people would start panicking. It's content you'll download upon launch, so the DLC moniker fits. It's considered 'separate' because even once the game has gone 'gold' CA can keep working on content right up until the release unlock via Steam. A lot of companies do this now, but very few offer that content for free, so kudos to CA!

I know this will be asked a lot, but if you watch the episode and have a read of what we put up, you would have seen that we've locked down the content that will be in the final version of the game, but thanks to Steam we have the time to make Pontus.

Will, Craig, someone...care to address the reason why the Seleucids aren't going to be a playable faction?

Last year, you said you were doing Rome II because TW fans wanted it, and obviously, numerous faction polls showed a lot of those same fans wanted to play the Seleucids.

Personally. other than Rome, it was the only faction I was really interested in playing.

Great news, about this, so even if you buy the game off steam a month after release you would still get the "Free-LC"

Um I guess it's a pleasant surprise and I don't want to spoil it for everybody but the Pontic capital was at Amasia and Sinope was captured in 183 BC. So we have sacrificed some historical accuracy here?
