Night battle no carrying torch light?

I'm playing SS mod and there was this night battle and it was completely dark. Couldnt event see any units unless i zoom in close up. I noticed my armies werent carrying any torches. how can i enabled it because fighting in a complete dark is ridiculous.

Well, for starters you should ask about this in the SS subforums. Anyhow its because in SS battles tend to change time of day during battles for some reason and yes, it gets quite dark, nothing you can do there AFAIK.

yea just noticed that when i play without ss mod, in night battle is so clear and so bright. so yeah in ss mod when i was playing in campaign it changed from day to really really dark, almost unplayable. is this a bug or did they make the night battle mod more dark to look more realistic and screwed it up?

I dont know, just close your curtains and it should be playable

Only about few guys in the unit carry a torch, and if it was real life I imagine you could use it as a scare off tool really well.

Fighting at night doesn't make any sense to begin with Night in the field is pitch black. Even torches don't help that, quite the contrary - you rather blind yourself and see even less than nothing XD

Hmmm... I advise you to go out into the fields at night and try all that. Once your eyes are accustomed to the dark, you can see quite well when the moon shines and the sky is clear, even if the moon is waxing or waning. We used to go out on adventure in the countryside at nighttime when we were younger, and I can well imagine fighting a battle under those conditions (although it must have been more than spooky and I would not have wanted to do it). And if you have a torch, you can actually see better.

In the game, I think you are only struck with darkness when darkness falls after the battle has begun. If it already starts at night, your army will have torchlight. The good news is: After fighting a battle into the night, your general should get the "night fighter" trait. If you attack with him afterwards, you can always choose to fight a night battle on the deployment screen. This gives you an advantage over many enemy generals and ensures you can see something.

I did that and ended up MISSING a damn bridge on my bike XD Sure your eyes get accustomed at one point, yet I never considered a flaming torch helpful at all. But maybe it depends strongly on the overall enviroment

Just raise a bit the brightness, being black is jolly good, better than that lighten night on vanilla.
