Default [SOLVED] The dreaded save game crash

I have spend a few days trying to solve this irritating problem. For those not in the know: roughly around the 110th turn all saves have only a quarter the size of a normal save and can not be loaded, the error being 'Corrupted Character Record'.

I continued for about twenty rounds without getting a regular sized save and eventually had to call it a night.

Initially I thought it had to do with some characters being shuffled around the map, but then the dates didn't agree. It will however take care of the invisible general problem - if the character is in a settlement when getting moved a 'ghost' will be created, no model but it can be selected via the army list.

Another brain wave later I was looking at the juveniles: two or three under age children had the same name as characters of that faction and their coming of age pretty much falls into the problem range\turns . Usually the game would throw this out as an error if both character are 'of age' why it doesn't here I don't know.

I haven't been able to play another 110 rounds to find out whether it works as I have packing to do: I am going on a trip on Monday and won't be back for 4 weeks. But it will be included in the second patch that should be out within the next 24 hours.

Once your potential fix is out, I'll test it, since I have to test my way that far into the campaign with my submod anyway. As long as none of the kids are the heirs I'm touching, there shouldn't be an overlap. And besides, if it works for me, and not for anybody else, then go ahead and make my magic mod official.

What size should they be normally? Mine are 6.something MB.

Yeah, but as he said, the bad saves tend to be drastically smaller, like 2mb.

At round 100 my saves were clocking in at 40MB, when I hit round 110 it was 12MB. So roughly a quarter of normal.

These are great news. I will try to test it if get enough free time. My problems were too about turn 112 and yeah the saves corrupted have smaller size.

I have bad news. Tested new patch 2.0.222 in a fast and fresh new campaing and still all the same. Corrupted savegame and CTD loading the save, from 112 turn onward. From 48 mb to only 4 mb.

I am running a quick test whether removal of all family trees will prevent that problem. If so then I will try to narrow it down - but I am not sure if I will get the time...

Edit: that's not the answer, I still get the reduced save size in turn 112 together with the crash and error message.

Is there any way to prevent this or is this mod kinda DoA until its fixed?

The new patch didn't fix it. Gigantus is apparently stumped by it and now he's away for at least a month. Thus, for all intents and purposes, this mod's campaign is currently unplayable until someone figures out why the mod is corrupting saves after turn 111 or 112 and fixes it.

Wrong. This mod's campaign is playable until turn 112.

That would be a good problem to have, though. I can't even start the game due to patch 2.

This mod is very playable if you like custom battles.

And it's rather playable for 100 turns if you like fast "9 year war" instead of 30YR.
To make it fully playable you just need to add some money to factions (trade bonus) so all can start war campaigns from 1618. It can be fun waiting for a fix.

A bit later than this timeframe, though.

I believe Gigantus corrects a problem with storage. Perhaps inspired version of No.1?
