For a temporary solution proceed as follows:

    1. Open C:\...\1648_2\additional\additionalConfig.cfg with Notepad
    2. Change the 'startup line to read as follows: startup=false
    3. Save

Run the game from the desktop shortcut again, the launcher will not appear and the game will start

I am experiencing the same thing, and i have made so that launcher does not appear but it doesn't work whatsoever. I have also re-installed it twice. Any idea what may cause this?

before patch one the problem was that the launcher looked for news online and when it couldn't connect to the interwebz it crashed ...

whether this is the same problem not fixed or a new problem to give Gigantus a new head ache is anyone's guess

I have tried with my connection off but still doesn't work. A shame really, just gotta hope for a solution now!

While the launcher telling you when a new patch is available is a good idea, it would be better to abandon the update feature if it causes so many problems. People will just have to check the forums every now and then to see if there's a new patch.

Hope they would make the .exe to "try" to see if there is a connection, and if there is then link will appear, otherwise "catch" the error and just don't display anything if there is no connection and the .exe will proceed on running. (People who know VB would get what I am saying)

Been experiencing this issues as well since the wire from my router to this PC usually goes haywire if the wire is moved even a little and its kind of a downer to not play when you're not connected.

    EDIT:
Anyway, maybe people who still has problems with the launcher should just create a .bat file for the mod to run it. Its self explanatory; if you ever opened a .bat file of a mod in notepad then you can create your own. Although I didn't tried it yet.

I posted a link to the bat file somewhere - here it is again: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4q2peod875umrao

The technical issue is being looked at - it's durintwz's baby.
