Sadly, the Walking Dead finale is on the same time as Game of Thrones, which means I have to watch the Game of Thrones repeat at 10, which will move my watching of Vikings until the day after.

The show is based on the stories about Ragnar Lodbrok, and we all know how the real one died, his death was the reason for the invasion by the great heathen army, it would be silly to not have him die the way he's suposed to.

Also, he's the protagonist, who would take over that role? Leif?

That's kind of like telling someone Spartacus dies. Not exactly a revelation even if you're not familiar with the tale, and he didn't die young either, not by historical legend standards.. There's plenty of years to go, if the series even intends to go that far...

I'm just glad they've made a point of having vikings with bows pretty almost every time there's a fight.

They're actually making it vaguely historical, since to my understanding Norsemen used bows all the time.

If they were doing "Rule of Cool" I doubt bows would feature much.

Yeah exactly. Well considering their practical approach to warfare the bow is just a to good weapon to pass up on some abstract sense of martial rule. Even kings and jarls used bows on occasion.
