Like I said, I'm totally fine with wardogs. I'd be even happier with them if the unit size was somewhere around 12-24 dogs. Seems like the perfect number.

The Egyptions should have cats with armour to nulify the threat or multiplayer will be unbalanced
It's good to see that they made it into the new game. I used to love using them to chase down retreating enemies in RTW.
Sorry wardog haters, but they're ********** awesome!
Be on alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in Love. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Why? Probably because people think that because we have found a way to weaponize dogs in modern time, that it too was possible in ancient time.
cool, big beasts.
and be quiet op, dont be so boring.

Why no gladiators units ? Although they shouldn't really be in gladiatorial kit, Otho used them during the year of the four emperors.
Yes, it's a single occurence (although i think there were some others occasions) and the experience wasn't especially convincing, but i don't see why it shouldn't be available as a last option for someone in dire need of troops.
Maybe a special event (like it was done in Alea Jacta Est from Ageod) ?
Granted, they shouldn't be a development priority.
Nationalism! I mean seriously CA, if you're going to include such disgustingly fantasy units as wardogs, why not go the whole flaming hog and have tanks and a T-Rex that breathes fire! It's practically the same thing!
Wardogs are really a joke - I take also a look at the spanish magazin spys - looks like Lord of the rings - CA thats not History !
BTW - we have no sources for wardogs in the germanic region. The only thing is that I believe Plinius wrote in his books about Germanic War (some others give us a late notize of that books) that the some suecians tribes have dog masks.
Also we have some dozends dog graves in the Kulm-contact - group of the Presworsk cultur - maybee the Harii - tribe of Tacitus Lugian Trade Tribes was there.

I'd prefer one or maybe two units max, hard limit - an elite unit of heavy infantry, who have dogs as well to assist them in the charge.
Heck, I for one hope for scythed war dogs

You answered your own question, Antiochus. Jack said a long time ago that historically rarer units, despite being rare, would still be incorporated into the game as recruitable units to make it more interesting.
Anyways, don't want to sound like the "the type of tree/flower/sandal/cheekguard is wrong" guy, but the breed used seems to be the Perro de Presa, from the Canary Islands, why would the Cherusci own them?
i like them puppies

I use them for guarding artillery units, Forest battles send them ahead in the dense forests.
Of course chasing routing troops and if they were in the game runaway slaves.
