I have a quick question. I have activated my copy of Empire Total War thru steam. I have misplaced my disks and see that I can Download the game via my account. To play, will I still need the disk?

No. If you activate it with the code you shouldn't need the disk at all. You can just download it through steam and play it through steam without the disk.
