Where are the spreadsheets for tatw 3.0 mod development?

I would like to do some of my own tweaking of building and unit stats for:

export_descr_buildings
export_descr_unit

I have tested this extensively with the txt files, but this is a sloppy and tedious process.

Where are the original spreadsheets that generate these files?
What add ins allow the files to be generated as txt that load into the game?

are you taking about the excel spreed sheet located in the third_age_3 folder?

I already saw that.
That sheet is missing many of the stats on in the export files.
I need an unadorned spreadsheet that I can flatten and and convert to the export_descr format.
I would appreciate a link or reference as I'm new to this mod.

There probably isn't such a sheet. What do you mean with "convert"? Like use a program to make the file? Doesn't really work that way unfortunately (unless there's some new program I don't know of) You need to make it manually, but it's not very hard. Why do you want to redo it though?

The download page warns us not to mod the files without a spreadsheet. The word spreadsheet is in many of the files.

What generates the data?
Excel has many add-ins that can flatten or export files to certain specifications.
Most software have data summarized in tables or spreadsheets that are easily adjusted and tweaked by developers.

Manual modding is frustrating as each increase or increase needs to be balanced by modding the units on the enemy side to match.

Please help point out the file.

Vanilla M2TW files say the same thing:

;This file is generated from a spreadsheet
;Please do not modify by hand

The original txt files were probably generated from a spreadsheet that the CA developers have/had. We don't have it. Even if we did it wouldn't contain TATW stuff so would be useless here.

To avoid confusion those comments should be removed as soon as a mod changes the txt files, although I have never seen a question about it before so I guess that there isn't much confusion.

I believe that there are tools for editing units: never tried them myself. I don't recall one for buildings. Check out the Tools forum: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...-amp-Scripting. There are also one or two pages about the place that list some useful modding tools.
