Norway's betrayal
It would seem that all the worrying reports from Norway were indeed true, as the Kingdom of Norway launched a treacherous sneak attack on the Republic!! All across the Swedish border, the Norwegian hordes swarmed into their territory, plundering, pillaging, slaughtering their citizens! In the Baltic, the Republic's unsuspecting fleets were attacked in their docks under the cover of night, and many of the ships were set alight, including the crews which manned them. Even the mighty fortress of Skara was sieged by the invaders, but the siege didn't last long, and they were pushed back, only for them to plunder the countryside instead.
The council refused to stand for this most disgusting and unprovoked attack, and they decided that the retaliation will be the total obliteration of the Norwegians. All forces were ordered back to Sweden to take part in this crusade, and all ships that were still fit for the seas were sent to blockade every single port on the Norwegians southern and eastern coasts. If there was one mistake the Kingdom made, it was that they attacked too soon, as the Swedish Royal Army was still in Zealand when they attacked. This mistake will prove to be a fatal one, as this army was immediately placed onto ships, and it joined up with the largest fleet ever assembled in the Republic's history, and it was ordered to head straight for Oslo...
The retaliation was swift and just, after Oslo fell, the entire Norwegian defence fell apart. One by one, the regions were taken, and Stockholm scored victory after victory. Along their warpath, entire settlements were razed to the ground, to avenge the bloodbaths bestowed upon our people by the original betrayal. The Kingdom is now on it's last legs, and it will not take long to deliver the killer blow. However, unlike Denmark, the Norwegian people will feel the full force of our might, once we finish the extermination of their armies.

Note: if someone could color in imperial purple the region that has Salona and make the Minoans rebel gray, I would be happy. My computer is having trouble posting from my Paint program to the actual updated map. Is Paint a bad choice, or am I missing something blatantly obvious?
Disgusted to see the Roman Empire not on the map and Constantinople in Persian Hands, the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Legions (aka The House of the Outcast Romans) took matters into there own hands. They captured the city of Salona and proclaim a second (albeit smaller and less powerful) Roman Empire! Senatus Populusque Romanus.

As long as there's White regions that would be considered rebel lands.

I'm way too tired to do any role playing right now, but basically, the Kingdom of Norway is effectively destroyed, as the only rebels remain to the North, but this includes the King of Norway, so we can't regard them as completely destroyed yet.
Also, the Republic of Stockholm would like to propose a trade agreement with Ascendency of Ukraine, to restart the trade through the rivers that made the Vikings so wealthy many years ago.

Hmm, my file is too large at 5.61 MB. . . is this normal? I can't find any way to shrink it (yet). Any ideas for Second Rome?

That's very large.
The map i posted above is only 101.6 KB, which is 55 times smaller then yours (5.61MB)
You can have second Rome, Like a different family perhaps.
