    Hi.. Yes & No
Your right... but this changes unit size per-say... Not French Inf SQ size... Basically in the vanilla game, small army units are 45 men - ultra is 160... hence in forming French Inf SQ, they look right the smaller the army, ergo both AI inf & Canons who have the same effect zone, can inflict more damage if the Inf are caught in smaller SQ's... Historically it was a tactic for Cav to charge and try and force inf to SQ, (Which the AI is really good at)

While fine, the unit multiplier 2 (I like to use large armies = 360 men) this uses the same French SQ layout pattern as 45 men... making the inf Square 8 times larger than it should be (=90 guns on each face)... While a bugger, at least In a 20 unit game given the same map size there is simply more space to deliberately space large inf Sq's out.... in a 40 unit game more of a pointless excise for large armies...
In saying that... the AI has no problem in target artillery on "inf blocks" hence correcting this has a lot of AI / Player tactical merit... In say that, some nations inf Sq's are blocks... it maybe easier to some how redirect the code to form a "Sq block" for the French + others?... or to change "Rank" numbers from 2/3 to 6 for squares only?... This also equals far less guns per face, more space between Sq's = A lot Better Cav attack inf battles.

    Cheers Stu

    Ok
A resolve is { DMN-DarthMod-Napoleon / Unit-stats-land-tables / tick box, Pike-square-formations(older), (true-false) this replaces the "Square-Formation".... While fine, In the ideal world, replacing the next; Pike-Wall-formation (true) (column)(A new button) with Pike-Square (Column) should return the "Square-formation" giving both options on the battle field...
So how does one edit a column?

    Cheers Stu

mish-the pike square is a SOLID formation and not hollow. If you want to edit it click on the box that says type in true and then click on another box and turn it blue and then save. Just edit one unit and test it in a custom battle and see. It you like it then you will have to edit all the extra unit pack files too that have french units in them...will take some time

UPDATE: Changed velocity and elevation settings for muskets and rifles, tweaked morale settings too. Post one.
New instructions for PDGuru_All_Unit.pack file battle entities change-just delete the battle entities from that file.

    hi
Yes, beyond that, had already tested... Surprising a pike-square (A 1/4 the size of SQ) is a lot more deadly to CAV, there are no CAV survivors... AI combat wise, it is a lot better. CAV flow around the SQ not into them, hence to get back is a deadly run.. AI INF follow up really well, form up 2 units to Face & flank a pike-square.... As predicted the unit survival is not long... Player tactic wise, is more challenging if want to keep them alive... Your strip threshold, a unit earns about 3, they fight to the last man...

Yes the hollow Square looks better... They are just far too big on large units with 2 ranks... more likely would need a multiplier on the source code to make 4 ranks.. (maybe too hard)

The trick is I want both... how do I edit a full Column the source location..? and merely swap the location of Pike-Wall & Pike-Square around...?

    cheers Stu

so when we delete the battle entities and we save it and the file rebuids it self. we are not supoused to see battle entites anymore right

Also iv noticed I can't seem to capture enemy ships in this mod ether.

Yes not needed. It is redundant. Mod uses main DME-Darth Mod Napoleon battle entities file. What do you mean you cannot capture ships?

oh I can capture ships I just forgot how to do it been a while since I played napoleon only bug really is cavalry seems to stop charging right before it hit the enemy line, I only use calvery for mop ups and scouting now because of this bug kinda makes them help less if they can't charge

They do charge you just need to get them in closer and double click on enemy unit.

    hi
Summed up in my view, your MOD is more of a quickie, 40unit, AI aggressive, short 2 year campaign game... Nice fun in a limited way, mostly repetitive type battles... You do realise even starting line ups on some nations only have INF ?.. no CAV, officer, guns, skim, and they are poor INF at that...

    Given the same starting battle...
French V Wurttemberg... the vanilla AI starts with good line up, try's to retreat to the furthest corner... Once cornered there lined attack forward is not too Bad, they have INF, MIL, Cav, Officer ,1 Gun well placed, (poor shots)(they lose 6000 to 600)

DMN - 26+++ they hold the start line with confusion & poor line up (try to flank) their move forward is little broken but solid, again a well mixed army, 1 gun well placed... (they lose 6000 to a 1000)(the better DMN AI)

DMN - 2.65 they hold no line per-say, but an area... 1 gun poorly placed behind building, a very well mix army, Extra 1000 men... there attack is a pitiful Zig-Zag INf attack / splits to attack flank from centre, they lose 6500 to 400...The idea is sound, a inf displacement move, (INf lines shifting left to overwhelm) the AI interpret this as a Zig- Zag in front of the big guns (canon fodder)

Brans DMN AI Mod... (alters between versions, a lot of over kill)... Mostly just lots of INf / Cav charging the guns... (Other than flank attacks, No Plan)...Their attack is more shear weight of numbers (More suited to a Native Zulu's campaign) In one campaign battle they lost 13,000 on a football field size area (river crossing) to my lose of 300...(Endless ammo) Any Spartan would be happy..

By moderating Bran's AI to a more cautious version, had more interesting diverse out comes... there best lose F-V-W 6000 to 1500.... Tricky to get the AI to "camp" on the hill for a plausible win...

Bran for a quickie-version it is good...
Bottom line I would prefer a better 20/30/40 army full Aggressive Napoleon Campaign Game, Veterans version.
    if your up for it...

    Cheers Stu
