    Default DOTS Indefinite Stalemate

Here is what I can conclude from all the discussion and info from the mod team.

    1. CA does not grant intellectual property rights to modder-developed tools but the 3rd party tools are protected.
    2. The team has concluded that they need to remove the modder-developed tools.
    3. The team does not have the manpower yet to remove the tools and still release a full product.

The only questionable conclusion that I have why the team wants to remove the modder developed tools. The only conclusion that can be released is that the creator or creators of these tools does not want to make these tools available to the community and only want to keep them in this mod. If you look at virtually every other tool created by the mod community, it was either concurrently released with the respective mod or released at a later time. As a side not even if the team wanted to prevent their tools being released in another mod the TWC and other TW sites would prevent that. This makes the DOTS teams' hesitance to release the mod with the tools confusing. I am not stating the DOTS team does not have a right (or a choice) to not release the tools, however, I am stating that it is a little arrogant to consider that you believe your work is so special that you don't want to release it to the general modding community because you don't want anyone else to use that tool. Thus the only reason that the team is not releasing the mod is because they chose not to, not because their position is being forced.

No offence meant, but your post is rather meaningless. Firstly, because we have just announced that we mean to continue development as normal. Secondly, because we have never said that we have concluded that we need to remove the 'modder-developed tools'. We are still working on exactly how to deal with the legal issues and will announce when we have made concrete decisions. Please don't speculate any further on the matter until we have made that announcement, it would serve no good purpose. Lastly, contrary to what you seem to suggest, we cannot release the mod as it is in any case, because it is not finished yet.

Ok but why cant you release the tools you or others have made? Are they tools developed by a professional company that is sold product? Or are they modder developed tools like Geomod?

I still dont understand what these legal issues are with your modder developed tools? You could explain why you cant release them?

I have not said that we cannot release the tools, only that what we are going to do with the tools still needs to be discussed. I quote my previous post:

So please wait until we make the announcement, in which we will do our best to explain the issue and our solution for it.

Ok, just hope in this announcement you could further elaborate on the problem. I assumed from previous announcements that there was an issue with the tools being released.
