Haha bit of a strange thread but has anyone else found it odd that there hasn't been a single blond German warrior? Tacitus goes to all that trouble mentioning the giant blond and red haired Germans too..![]()

Germans today cant be compared with ancient germanics. There has bin a lot of culture mix since then.
Im pretty sure that there where a couple of blondes, cause blond hair was one of the few things that where exported out of germania.
But not every german was blonde. There may have been a lot of red or brown haired germans too.
Not only Tacitus. Ancient writers always write about the Germanics as predominantly blonde-haired and red-haired. Tacitus. Ger. iv; Seneca. De Ira. iii. 26. Juv. Sat. xiii. 164; Lucan. ii. 60 3. The ancient writer Julius Firmicus Maternus went as far as writing all germanic peoples were blonde (an obvious though exaggeration).
I'm quite worried by this. Because if CA does not even make Germanic peoples predominantly blonde, then what about the Romans and Hellenic peoples of which also had significant fair haired strains at the time? Sulla, Cato the Elder, Augustus, Caligula, Titus, Dominitian, Trajan, Nero, Pyrrhus, Lysimachus, Ptolemy II, Dionysius I are being good examples for fair haired induviduals in the RomeII centered period.

I have it tooI call it "Straßenköter"-Blond which is named after the dirty light-brown colour of dogs living on the street^^
I also thought about this, but i am honest, i can't remember a game which really got blond hair look okey. Blond allways looks fake in games...

Proud to be a real Prussian.
Naturally not all germanic people were blond, but looking at all ancient sources, the bog bodies and the greatest trade export beside amber (blond hair), there is a pattern.
Well, looking at the screenshots of the suebian Berserkers and the Teutoburg Forest battle, almost all warriors are dark-haired. Perhaps CA can give some input here.
After all it is a minor issue, but i really like to know why the go with rather the exceptions and not the majorities.
Because I like history reflected the way it was. Not distorted by ignorance, political correcteness or something else. This is particularly important when it comes to people. Making the Japanese dark haired and not blonde haired in Shogun was kind of important. If CA portayed Sean Bean like a dark haired induvidual, wouldn't you react?

If CA messes with Sean Bean:
But in all honesty I wouldn't really care. Blonde Germans, Red Headed Romans, whatever - they're all pawns in armies of thousands and it makes literally no difference to the vast majority. I do sometimes feel sorry for the people that desire extravagant historicity - they will never get what they want![]()
