AA and the humble Clemson?

Just a quick one from me.
In vanilla HOI3, I'm not sure if it changes in the expansions but, as the USA you start of with tons of the Clemson class destroyers. I tend to find them useful in no over role than that of a last ditch reserve or scrap, but I'm wondering if I upgrade their AA could they be used as mobile AA batteries for those valuable pacific ports?

Does anyone think such an idea would workable or would it just be useless?

It would work, because ships being bombed will all shoot at the aircraft. This is different from ground units being bombed; they only fire back if they're the ones being targeted. This is why those super-stack fleets tear CAGs to shreds.

Those old destroyers are also good at sub-hunting since their ASW weapons upgrade. They'll move slowly, but can still find and sink the subs.
